For better gaming performance or overall smoother computing experience, you need:
1. Better GPU - Better gaming performance
2. More RAM - better multitasking (opening loads of programs/games at once)
3. Faster HDD/SSD - faster read and write speed

Overall, switching your HDD to SSD is one of the most significant performance upgrade you can apply onto a notebook, so its definitely worth considering once you have the budget nod.gif (HDD can be upgraded in the future. GPU cannot, which is why you should go for the best in your case)

Go for any notebook with GT740M since you game:

4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" for mobility
5. preferable if touch screen is available XD
6. preferable if the graphic is GT740m above than GT720m
7. preferable if the hardisk is 1TB

I have been searching through some models, need some user review on them as well:
a) asus K451LB 14"
b) lenovo s410p 14"
c) asus X552LD 15.6"
d) asus A450LC 14"
e) lenovo flex 14 14"
f) lenovo flex 14" touch screen
g) lenovo Z510 15.6"
h) lenovo s410p 14" touch screen

I am not able to make decision especially whether to get GT720m or GT740m. If I am not sticking to GT740m, there will be more choices. According to
http://www.notebookcheck.com/NVIDIA-GeForc...0M.89899.0.html
GT740m is a lot more better than GT720m but GT740m can only perform to the max on a quad core processor. This makes me, again, very hard to make decision. However, coming to the brand, I am not able to decide whether asus is better or lenovo (currently my best two choices to go).

Therefore, I really need some serious advice from pros and sifus. @@

Thanks for your suggestions. How about the processor for GT740m? Does it necessary to be paired with a quad core to produce its max performance? How about the brands? I mean like the quality of certain brand. I heard that axxr spoil very fast. No experience with hx as well.
*
A quad-core processor will only be able to shine if the game fully utilizes it... in most cases, dual cores are good enough nod.gif
Some more your budget doesn't allow you to get one with quad-core unfortunately sad.gif

which means the GT740m doesnt necessary to only be paired with a quad core? the models u mentioned above all come with 2 slots RAM? so far as I know, asus k451LB comes with a non-removable 4gb RAM + an empty RAM. they made asus k451LB similar to a macbook.
*
Aiyo, who says it must be paired to a quad-core? sweat.gif
most will come with 2 RAM slots, but please check at shops to confirm, we sifus are not all-knowing laugh.gif

Sorry, after the incident with devour, I will never buy things from him anymore. Yeah will try to contact numbertwo or just purchase it directly from dell website smile.gif Might just get that model & replace the hdd with an ssd. Should be perfect I guess.

The dell website says it comes with 4cell battery & 6cell is optional but I can't find anyway to add 6cell battery during the customization  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Which one better?

Toshiba

Both have the same processor.
Toshiba is better in terms of GPU performance, warranty and storage space
Lenovo is weaker in terms of GPU performance, but has a hybrid HDD which will help speed things up, and is lighter, slimmer and "foldable" hmm.gif

Which one to choose depends on your usage, which you didn't state nod.gif

Yeah, like what raymond sifu has mentioned, only Vostro lines suffer from weak WiFi cards (which can be "fixed" by replacing the card laugh.gif)

I'm also in the same dilemma, whether to go for home or business laptops. Setting my sight on thinkpad at the moment, but not too sure whether is it really worth the money.

I'll be using it as a mobile workstation cause need to travel quite often. Read reviews that the normal home laptops will not be as durable as business models if you are moving it around often. Is that true?
*
If you have the budget and do not intend to change notebooks for up to 5 years, go for business-line notebooks, they are truly reliable and are also covered by superb support
Make sure you have an SSD if you are moving around alot nod.gif
Conventional HDDs are more susceptible to damages caused by knocks nod.gif

I remembered running games using DOS during x486 era laugh.gif

FreeDOS notebooks are not that common (usually on budget notebooks or specific brands like Illegear) since you have to be pretty experienced to install an Operating System yourself.
Of course, since it doesn't come with a Windows license, its cheaper tongue.gif
