Bos, I got hit by the camera error eventhou I already flash the
"Fixed_Camera_for_CM_All_AOSP_roms_by_RohanAJoshi_V3.0" . Can advice? For the time being, I flash the fix it again.
Battery life for Kit kat 4.4.2 as of today (after the kernel tweak) almost similar with Imperium Rom. Will monitor again today.
the solution for camera is already there. just that the person that make the fix keep add new version that add more issue.
this will be my first complete guide to fix this. TS can pin this since it's been asked so many times
first some basic intro:
"cant connect to camera" error will be abbreviated as "CCTC", this happen due to open source hal that is being used.
CCTC will happen on 2 occations.
1. randomly when you launch camera
2. when you snap way to fast in continuous picture focus mode. keep spamming the shutter button and the shutter button will stop responding. unable to press back to quit app. press home and relaunch camera, you'll get CCTC
latest aosp rom seems to get rid of CCTC due to reason 2. but due to reason 1 still happens, although rare but it still happen.
if you are interested to keep original rom camera and use photosphere camera at the same time. follow steps below

Fixed Cam for CM 10.2_CM11 V2.3.zip from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/...cm10-2-t2505973is the one that works best. but this v2.3 will replace your gallery and camera
now a little explaination about what the fix2.3 zip does.
to avoid confusion,
red = apps originally from your romblue = apps from photosphere bundled with banks standard gappsgreen = apps from v2.3 fixoriginally, you for your
camera and
gallery, you have
/system/app/
gallery2.apk
/system/app/
camera2.apk <--camera and gallery 2 seperate apk since kitkat
flashing this zip file, it adds this to your system app, and
deletes your
gallery2 &
camera2 (camera from your rom) and replace it with only
gallery2/system/lib/hw/camera.smdk4x12.so <--the most important thing
/system/app/
gallery2.apk <--contains the
gallery and camera (old camera from 4.3) 2 in one. during JB days, camera&gallery is combine in one apk
if you backup (copy to somewhere else) the
camera2.apk of your rom and place it back to the system app folder, it will force close, no idea why and you cant launch either camera (the 4.3 one and your original rom one)
i am using photosphere camera and photosphere gallery, got it when i flash banks gapps
/system/app/
GalleryGoogle.apk
/system/app/
GoogleCamera.apk
what i do is, i delete the
/system/app/
gallery2.apk
so the
gallery and
camera from the fix is gone. not a problem since i still have
photosphere camera and gallery.then i copy back my original rom
cameraback into /system/app, so finally, i have
/system/app/
GalleryGoogle.apk
/system/app/
GoogleCamera.apk
/system/app/
camera2.apk <--rmb set permission to rwrr and reboot
now i have 2 camera, one photosphere cam, one original rom cam, and google gallery that can view photosphere
with 0% chance of getting CCTC
this is what i do, and i never get CCTC.
during every rom update, after i flash the fix, i manually delete
gallery2 and copy back
camera2 to system/apps
google's
GoogleCamera &
GalleryGoogle will survive due to their own update script so no worries about them
if you dont care about the fix replacing your roms camera app, then just flash the v2.3 fix
most important thing from the fix is
/system/lib/hw/camera.smdk4x12.so
doesnt matter what camera app you plan to use.
you can also open the v2.3 zip and copy this to the correct folder. and set permission to rwrr
v3 and v4, i still get CCTC when i snap too fast.
so it defeats the purpose and i stick to v2.3
