yes, it is now the good for airlines 20 percent rebate. many people didnt know that they do it. then you must apply at rakuten which is http://www.rakuten.com.my/event/cimb/apply...nner_cimb-apply

rm200 rebate will be given for application approve and 20 percent rebate + 5 percent online rebate for rakuten purchase. more detail u should refer to FAQ, not the term and condition http://www.cimbbank.com.my/creditcard/atta...mber%202014.pdf

must read the FAQ until the end of pages. more offer for online transition and airlines(MAS, not airasia since airasia charge extra for credit card payment).

Please exclude the 20% off airline tic purchase. It's a game of roulette. Bought 3 flights before, only 1 got credited automatically. Another one, I managed to get partial rebate after chasing them for like 2 weeks. I am chasing the third one now. Lodge a report with them on 9/3 and still no feedback until now.

Going to war with CIMB. They don't want to credit my cash rebate despite my airline purchase was clearly MCC 4511. They say it was a phone purchase according to their records (which is not).

I told them it's not a phone purchase and even if it's a phone purchase, there is no T&C stating that phone purchase doesn't entitle to rebate as long my MCC is in the rebate category. She say she will get back to me again.

I am sure they will revise the T&C soon tongue.gif

wtf... bought from Dell via phone and kena the oversea charge!  mad.gif

Sucks. That means if your PC is 3K, you got to pay RM 24 for the cross border fees. I need to take note when purchasing large amount item with this card.

I kena cross border fees as well with Expedia the other day but luckily it's a relatively small amount.

can you update on the cross border thread as well ?
*
Is there a thread on cross border fees? I only know there's a thread on foreign exchange currency which I don't think it's appropriate.

So far I know Dell, Expedia and Paypal has cross border fees. What else?

I am getting angry and riled up with CIMB regrading their 20% airline promo. 20% off ALL airline my foot. My latest issue on the Easter Jet still has yet to be resolved after a WHOLE month. Promised to call me back last Thursday to iron things right but nada, no calls at all.

Am going to blast a long email out to CIMB coming Monday and CC Bank Negara.

I guess there are different MCC codes within Airasia itself. I did 3 transaction, 1 was credited automatically, 1 was credited after I made some noise and another was not credited because the MCC code/POSCODE was not in the rebate category. So it's still a lottery I guess.

So far the automatic one is Airasia X to Seoul. My other 2 (one Airasia Philippines and one local Airasia didn't get)

be careful on CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard

when using paypal, they incur service charge. i link my paypal a/c to ocbc bank and transact in RM, no charge.
CIMB do charge.

eg:
paypal statement:
May 28, 2014  Payment To  Xiaomi Malaysia Sdn Bhd Completed Details Payment To Xiaomi Malaysia Sdn Bhd 4X0448655N778501P  -RM925.00 MYR

Select record 4    May 23, 2014  Payment To  Groupon Malaysia Completed Details Payment To Groupon Malaysia 7GY353354N3180204  -RM98.00 MYR

cimb cc statement:
Posting Date Transaction Date Description Debit (RM) Credit (RM) Outstanding Balance (RM)
30-May-2014 27-May-2014  PAYPAL *XIAOMIMALAY 4029357733 932.40
25 MAY            23 MAY PAYPAL *GROUPON MY 4029357733 SG 98.78

all transaction + 0.8%(contact service center confirm this is service charge, bzo paypal was on SG.)

just FYI, we still earn after - 5%
*
It's called crossed border fee. Since Paypal's gateway is in Singapore, you are being charged 0.8% for your usage in MYR.

may i know what does it mean by MCC posmode 81? i would like to know if paying astro bill online can get 5% rebate. under the utility exception list it is stated that only MCC 4900 is not entitled for 5% rebate.. i believe astro MCC code is 4899 (cable TV).. anyone can confirm?
*
Posmode 81 means the transaction is being transacted online. As for Astro MCC, call your CC CS and check with them.

Hi. I'm using Visa Infinite for cash rebate but it seems to be very little (0.5%) and NO petrol rebates...  sad.gif

Do you think I'm better off changing to the new Cash Rebate Master Card? I read the T&C and I think I'm only eligible for the Gold version...  unsure.gif
*
How are you using VI and not qualify for the Platinum? For petrol, there are better cards around. Cash Rebate only gives you 2%.

CIMB is being tricky on the word Posmode 81 and those airlines MCC.

I bought firefly tickets also did not get my rebate either on 20% or 5% category. Now I rather use UOB VOX which guarantees me 5% rebate on online transaction.
*
Yeah, not sincere in giving out the promo at all. I probably will go for PBB VS end of the year.
