The most exciting is about the slider of topre-MX. nod.gif
So, in the future, the topre keyboards can use MX keycaps. notworthy.gif

Hakko FX888D is real Hakko.
the D means digital, control temperature more accurate.
I never regret to buy that solder station at all.
Worth the investment for person who always mod their kbd.

Controllable temp, faster heating, higher working temperatures. Normally you need to heat the patch for quite a bit, but with better soldering irons you no need to spend so much effort. Clean work

Yup. Topre switch, cherry MX keycaps. I'm waiting for the Hybrid sliders also.

The biggest problem that I have with Cherry MX is that the switches are designed with higher tolerance. You try to rub it sideways, it'll move a lot. This is hysteresis effect that is common to all cherry switches.

Compared with Topre, which doesn't move at all, the typing experience on this "rubber membrane" is much better.

the novatouch is 45g. i recommend people trying 55g topre first, 45g feels very similar to a normal rubber dome. of course, YMMV.

Hmmm. You recommmend the 888D? But the cheapest OK alternative is the 936 right?

I might not be planning that many mods until endgame using solder, but a good solder is appreciated wink.gif

Concur. 45g is a bit soft for me, but my typing hasn't been affected at all, so I'm not gonna care much.
