just wondering if one is totally dont have bike experience but owned a D license... should go for B2 or B full straight? As in future planning to own bigger cc bike.. Asked some academy, they say better start with B2, later fall la this and that.. are they being conservative or it should be that way?

Good question, no right answer. In the end, it's up to you. If all goes well, then is fine.
Some tell you B full straight no problem, some tell you B2 then B full.
In some countries, not so lucky, as riders are required to complete a mandatory restricted license period.

Most people I know took B2, then B many years later.
One person I met, took B2, then B full right after that.
One person I know went B full straight after buying a 200kg first naked bike.

If money and time is not a problem, do B2 first, then ride kapcai few years - including clutched kapcai.

when we taking B full... the bike we will use to practice and going for test will be straight big cc bike? cannot be like I use small bike to do test and practice... just that I am holding the B full license?

practise maybe small cc kapcai without clutch to get you started, eventually, you must master the B full bike (Virago 535 or ER6 or some other beginner friendly bike), and quite likely you'll be using the same bike for JPJ test

I would think the main reason school's recommend a safer approach, is for safety reasons. After MCO, the learners' and exam queue is quite backed up. For B-full bike, there's usually just 1 or 2 per school. In some areas, 1 bike is shared among few schools. The last thing they want is anything to happen to that bike. At one time, there will be up to 10 learners riding bikes on the learning ground.

The school may be able to guide you at first, but really the rest is up to you. Here's what I would suggest, get an L first from JPJ. Buy a clutched bike, and go from there.

Today a friend told me the bike at his riding school was dropped by a learner, brake lever putus. Now the school need to fix it and schedules are pushed out.

Suggest those who have zero riding experience but want to take B-full direct, buy and learn on your own bike instead of risk dropping the learner bike.
Many ppl are queuing to get their Bfull license and it depends on the survival of the bike.

Take lesen pay RM650. Drop bike replace ori lever RM200. Not to mention other damages to the steering and chassis.
That's why la learning school bikes are such a crap.

Another pal of mine failed exam becoz the bike suddenly died, together with 2 other person taking test after him, and the whole batch need to come back another date to re-take.

Better take B-full when ready, avoid injury to yourself, or make it difficult for everybody else.

Today my wife received a priceless advice from Akademi Propandu:

"If you don't already know how to ride a big motorcycle, you should learn at home first before coming to your first lesson".

Then I paid you RM850 to shake tits, issit?

Do they teach on 1 to 1 basis? I think they don't want to risk dropping the bike or worse, injure yourself because they don't have the resources to do that.

They do, if you pick a very unpopular time slot... like Tuesday mornings 8am-1pm where no B Full student would want to show up.

My wife texted back saying the instructor found a solution by getting her started on a kapcai for the first 2 hours, before moving up to the MT-07.

Well I'm happy to hear that, at least the instructor is experienced and conscientious enough to find ways to get a total noob started. At least dia x cuci tangan. The guys behind the office counter however are the ones giving condescending 'advice'.

I need her to go thru her first 5 hours of instruction at the driving school before I supplement them with practice at home on my bike.

As soon as she's comfortable managing the bike, I'll have to take her on easy, short distance Sunday rides as much as possible.
Bloody hell, how did we even manage totally on our own back then when we didn't even own a bike to practice on....

Oh, that's good to know.

I wouldn't expect 1 to 1. From their point of view, it's fair, that some students purposely went for B-full lessons with zero experience and caused damages to the learners bike. A damaged bike upsets other schedules, too, not to mention exam slots.

Fair enough, if they know you need extra guidance before handling a 200kg bike. Perhaps, set aside underbone with clutch just for this kind of learners would be better also.

Some other countries allow to use own bike, but that's a different culture altogether.

Affordable underbone with clutch does not exist anymore sed

What you mean 'affordable'? If you mean brand new, yes is true, quite pricey.
If second hand, 1~2k also got.
Modify underbone to manual clutch also can.
