If you mean the Hantu Kak Limah as the first, yes that one is better. But the 'real' first was Zombi Kampung Pisang (2008) and that was the the best IMO.

yea i mean hantu kak limah since the jin pakai toncet one borrow its popularity by using the name hantu kak limah 2. zombi kampung pisang is nice but ending quite wtf. its still great but i like hantu kak limah a bit more. imo mamat khalid lost his touch since he join the maharaja lawak crowd and produce shitty and unnecessary sequels like jin pakai toncet and rock oo.

Yeah something is definitely off with Jin Pakai Toncit but I'm not sure if it is an afterthought because I think he was planning it since Zombi Kampung Pisang (b4 the surprising popularity of Hantu Kak Limah). I heard there is another Kampung Pisang movie coming up soon. I'm totally fine with Rock Oo though as I am huge fan of rock kapak haha (I agree that the story was already complete in Rock, but Rock Oo is equally enjoyable on its own).

My favorite Mamat Khalid's work is actually Rombongan Cik Kiah Ke Sukan Komanwel. That's the best comedy, ever

I wonder if he will direct a really serious movie (non comedy and non parody). He wrote the screenplay for Puteri Gunung Ledang and it's the best Malaysian epic we had yet.

Fast forward, watch SEPET for something new. The KL Gangster newer direction. All other movies in between is what the malay people call meleleh movies. Those love stories that have same theme that is religious and corporate world and love and love and love like that. Boring like hell. Else its those ghost comedy. Over played and got David Teo really rich. Until its not popular anymore.

You must look out for Hanyut then (whenever will it be shown). I've watched it at a private screening, Sofea Jane is still the best.



I really hope this movie will appeal to cinema goers. Art house movies (like Bunohan) usually didn't do well in local cinemas

Bad casting, bad direction, bad movie

And that came from Hafsham who had made good movies in the past (Mekanik, Soal Hati). Whatever happened to him???

BM movies recommendation : KIL, Bunohan, Songlap, SAM, KL Gangster duology, Magika, Kami Histeria (or any movies written by Rafidah Abdullah of 3R fame), any movies by Afdlin Shauki, any movies by Mamat Khalid, any movies by Khabir Bhatia (especially if it got Maya Karin) and maybe Highland Towers (heard good thing about it).

Movie to avoid : Anything by Ahmad Idham, Ismail Bob Hashim, Prof Razak Mohaideen (if this hack is lecturing our future filmmakers, really doom our film industry) and produced by David Teo (all movies are money grabbing amateurish piece of ****).

IMHO Bunohan is the best best malay movie in recent time, dare i say worthy of Cannes or Oscar Foreign Film nomination standard.

Belum release in Malaysia. That trailer was out since 2012. But it had been making rounds and shown in many foreign festivals etc. The date for local release had been postponed few times (no idea why).

Truly speaking, None worth to watch. But still got few movies that are good but 99% are crap one.

P/s : bunohan n kolumpo both are good movies from my view. Kolumpo is underrated movie but its worth to watch.
