Just a question (don't have this card, thinking whether to apply) whether TNB bill of RM200 can be paid using this card 4 times. Meaning play RM50, then pay RM50, 4 times. Counted as 4 swipes? Able to do on HLB website?

Annual savings 1200- 350( AF + GST) = 850

Still havings net savings RM850, correct?? icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Yet this will reduce effective cashback.

Makes it 850/12,000 = 7.0833%

Still a bit better than Amex (5% + 2% in points) but not THAT much better unless you always max one or the other.

This card will charges you RM300 for annual fee and RM50 for gov. tax, also it can't be waived. Don't attracted by 10% cash rebate, think twice when apply this bank and this card.
*
I plan to use for 11 months then cancel once the final cashback comes through.

Then apply again on my own name (currently my wife's) and repeat. But I think by that time the benefit will have changed. See OCBC Titanium.

Once they waive first year AF good enough di. Of course we prefer no AF ever (get Maybank2Kard) but 1 year free allows you to 'make' money first.

If after I raised this issue up they will bank in back the rebete, then I consider it as answer, if they are bullshitting with merchant code thingy, then I'll consider it as excuse.
*
Why consider as excuse though? Well known already that everything depends on merchant code, and merchant code is decided by merchant not by CC-offering bank. Expect the bank to look at your purchase receipt and say 'oh, this one is grocery, nah we give you money'?

yes, you can split to rm50 each and yes, it falls under utilities.
*
Related question, so far I've been doing it this way.

1. Login to payonline
2. Type in RM50 amount to the appropriate bill
3. Confirm it
4. Type in the HLB WISE credit card number etc.
5. Receive TAC and validate.

Then I repeat step 2-5 10 times.

Just only I realized that after step 2 I can type in RM50 again and it will show two payments to the same account RM50 each. Will this be counted by HLB as two transactions of RM50 or 1 transaction of RM100 since done at same time with one TAC (I think)?

Just add and type rm50 x10 times, when you pay it will automatic send you 10 TAC also, one after one you close the TAC.

At first I'm doing the same way as you but I tried above method it will send me 10 times of TAC eveytime I'm done with one rm50 transaction.
*
Thanks. So confirmed HLB sees it as 10 transactions? You've received the cashback already right? I just only got this card last month will only received first cashback end of this month.

HLB really know how to "tai-chi". Now I understand your frustration.

Reply them : The MCC Code is not shown on the transaction slip I sign and receive from Merchant. How to find out the MCC ? Please escalate this matter to your Manager. I expect a call from the Manager within the next working day or else I will escalate to Bank Negara Malaysia.
*
Big shot ronnie rclxms.gif

But I think unless someone do transaction bank also won't know. Can staff search out what MCC a merchant register for? How can they know which merchant exactly?

The HLB staff just need to search the MCC for the transaction we have swiped already. Not to check randomly  (but OCBC can do this).
*
Really? English of the reply wasn't good, but seems to me like they're saying 'we cannot check unless you do a transaction with that merchant'.

If your interpretation is correct then yes, HLB deserve to be screwed by BNM.

As I in middle east working now and using WISE to buy groceries. But why I can't enjoy the cash back rebet? Thanks.
*
Middle east, lagi they cannot check for you. Depends on the shop that you shop at, what is the MCC they registered for.

I don't know how middle east is like, but from Malaysian example, if you go to Parkson and they happen to sell some groceries, no way to get grocery category (because Parkson not going to register 2 different MCC for different sales, and their major business isn't grocery).

Similarly, if you're dining but you go to a club whose main business is beer and entertainment, the club probably didn't register the dining MCC.

Owners register based on what sort of business they run, so if you can find a place to buy grocery that confirm that's their ONLY business (i.e. not also linked within a hotel or department store) got the best chance.

Unfortunately, even with that there's no guarantee. HLB got no control. If CS is good in that shop you can maybe ask the manager what MCC they register under?

This is their SOP, no need to bother too much.
Like I'm buying groceries in Middle East that does not sells pork and alcohol, they are trying to tell me that supermarket is using the MCC code that are selling groceries with alcohol and pork(different code) and refuse my cash back.
*
Until now you butthurt the same thing =) already know that MCC not under their control. Dunno what magic you expect the bank to do, fly there and tell the supermarket that they need to change MCC code?
