Too bad I need it bfore MIDE, anybody know where can I get it?
Same, I'm using BPW also, don't wanna put another pocket on the waist, just need something simple to store stuff on thigh.

As of now i wear surf pants with zipable/valcro pockets and store my knife + SMB & reel in them.

Guys anyone can tell me major diff for
Scubapro seawing nova/ goriilla n jet fin?

Im thinking of upgrading my fin
*
seawing nova is like normal fins but quite powerful for normal kicks while gorilla version is stiffer and more sturdy but cramps easily.
Jetfins are more of a technical fin for maneuverability underwater as seawings are slightly difficult for things like reverse kicks and less efficient for frog kicks but not much difference other than in current.

What will you be storing?

For me it's a slate, finger spool, and scissors.

Spare torch and GoPro when I'm not using. Don't feel secure to clip GoPro on harness.

Thanks. I saw them on Scubatex, RM80, not really cheap. Need to see them first before buying, thanks for the website though smile.gif

On a separate note mayI know what type of dive insurance do you all get? I need one that covers Scuba (including courses) and equipment. Can't seem to find something as comprehensive.

Most just use normal travel insurance. My personal insurance covers diving incidents til a certain limit. Was planning to get DAN during MIDE.

Website price is before discount. if you go to the shop they would be able to give a minor price deduction.

I don't know about the gopro, but for the spare torch you could consider attaching it to your shoulder D-rings and bungee it down like this:

Once stowed, it is very streamlined:

Sipadan-Dive Resort, do you Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort... if Yes, very good choice and very Safe (Generally)!! Kapalai, itself has many dive sites and a wreck too. They also frequent Mabul, Siamil and Sipadan... high demand, book 6-9 months ahead.

The Reef Dive Resort, another good choice. 1 resort - 2 islands  brows.gif  Again, Mataking island itself has many sites and the famous Post Ofis Wreck too. islands hopping for snorkeling or scuba? shouldnt be an issue... BUT travel to Sipadan island s loooong journey, 2-2+ hr... if not enuf ppl, add RM??!!

Oya... both islands are also famous for honeymoon, wedding photo too....  wub.gif

Okay looks like I've nailed 2 safe-to-stay resorts, but half a year booking? That's very long lol.

Since Mataking Island is far Sipadan, then which are the "nearby" resorts to Sipadan? Kapalai Island? Also if I wanna hike up Bohey Dulang, ideally Mataking Island will be a better choice as it's nearer?

I don't have my OW yet but been snorkeling few places already, planning to go back to Tenggol soon to try Scuba Discovery & then decide whether to take OW or not. I felt that I may under utilize my OW cert so that's why still considering.

So are you planning to go to sipadan to dive? If you haven't gotten your OW than what happens when you decided not to go for it after your DSD in Tenggol?
Also Sipadan might not be as enjoyable if your skills are not really there yet.

Nearby resorts to Sipadan - any of those resorts around Mabul

To enjoy diving in Sipadan, I strongly advise one to have at least AOW experience before doing those wall dives.

Not sure if you can get permit for snorkeling, but I guess if you have money, anything is possible.

You can of course go to Sipadan with OW, it's really up to you. No one is stopping you smile.gif

Putting money aside, I do understand it's kinda a waste to go unprepared or skipping the main highlights. It's like going to Paris & not visiting the Eiffel Tower, or something along those lines. So I'm gathering info to make a worthwhile trip.

Hammerhead manta are rare encounters, if u come to sipadan expected to see those u will end up dissapointed , be it aow, ow, rescue, dmt

For normal fun dive, ow with super bouyancy control is enough to enjoy the unique water of sipadan alone
Hammerhead n mantas are rare and jackpot for divers there
