There is a common "problem" for certain people, where the first few MMO he played, will be the longest MMO he ever stayed with. And it's really hard to move away from it.

5 years, I will say, why don't take a break.
No I don't mean stop playing; but just play things for fun.

Pickup any games, have fun with it for a short time, if felt too repetitive at times, or the online community not suitable for yourself, then move on to others. Just play games casually.

Trying to find a perfect replacement for a game that you stick on for so many years, is, almost impossible. I tried, and fail.

Yesss, you read me.. seems really impossible. There was one period I played average 12 hours a day non stop for every day for a month few months.
My friend wanted to take me out for rehab... meet friends. drinks. girls. find a life.... lol... well that was during the college days.

Now at least my job cut me down from playing too much.

i think any game where you have a group of friends that manage to beat group content without resorting to guides is a good starting point. There's no point in cheesing through content. The best experience comes from getting something done and hearing the shouts of joy over voip.

Guys, I've been playing World of warcraft for 5 years.

Is there any other game similar to this? I want to stop WoW for a while.

WoW is a great game. I played from 2005-2011. Despite lots of QQs and complaints and shits it is still very fun, especially if you've got raid and arena kaki.

But as I get older I find my play time get significantly lesser too and I just don't see how paying RM50 a month (also another RM15ish for tunneling service) is justifiable.

The only MMO I personally find that can hold their own against WoW is Guild Wars 2. It looks tonnes better than WoW. It improves on a lot of things I hated in WoW like group events and questing. I prefer GW2's pvp a lot more too, running while casting? Hell yeah. No silly obsolete mana system for casters too. And the talent system is just superior. Also it's a lot more fast paced.

No mob tagging. If you deal enough dps on a quest-related/important elite mob then you all will get credit for it and you don't even need to be in a group. No more camping for 10 minutes just to have someone else ninja the mob from you.

One very important point that I really like is that GW2 doesn't revolve around Healer-Tank-DPS system, hallelujah! Everyone have their own healing skills. No more "Group LF1M, healer. Group LF1M, Tank" spam.

WoW has awesome raids and GW2 has 0 raids. They have some guild missions that encourage guild activities but it's no raids. Arenanet did mention that they're working on it though.

I still miss a lot of WoW stuff while playing through GW2 though. Like, I miss fighting for mining nodes (in GW2, you, me and her can mine the same node and we all get the same number of ores). I miss having the need to hide from higher level opposing factions. Getting camp by them and stuff laugh.gif In GW2 there are no factions in PvE so you're very safe, other than from mobs.

I think it's easy to think of ideas on how to improve on old mechanics, but it's not easy to create, charm? I think WoW has more of that for me. I mean in 2005-2010 I only have one toon, ONE. Means I've only been through the leveling process once. All those years and I can still remember the maps, the little things and stuff. Elwyn Forest -> Westfall -> Redridge -> Duskwood (best map ever). Go get more progression for my toon in Arathi after that to gather some balls for STV. etc etc.

In GW2, I can't even remember the name of the 2nd map I visited. Everything is freaking pretty, the art is awesome, much better than WoW's but, WoW has more memorable stuff and quests. Not saying GW2 has bad leveling process or bad PvE, the journey is great and fun and have revolutionary mechanics but, doesn't feel quite like WoW's. Maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic, who knows.

But yeah I guess a monthly sub financial model MMO is a thing of the pass for me. Don't worry GW2 is not those pay-2-win bullcrap so it's all good.

Blizzard's next gen MMO is said to have the same model as GW2's so I'm kinda psyched about it.

I like what you have said.
Apart from the gaming experience and quality, One thing i like about Paid MMO is that subscribed players are majority matured and game chat or Vent speaking is about social life and not just about games. This is why is hard for me to quit WoW as I had met so many good friends internationally.

Like you did I can remember almost all the maps and dungeons in WoW. When I tried other MMO, my mind keep comparing it with what I had previously played and how I get use to the concept of the previous preferred game concept. That may be why I can't leave and commit into another game.

I am getting GW2 installing soon biggrin.gif Hope that it changes my thoughts into another game concept.

and Yeah! hope blizzard can release the coming new model soon.

As we age, our play time gets lesser and lesser, from rushing for mmorpg levels / EQs, to my current state...stop playing MMO and started playing FPS / dota that is fast and don't need to keep leveling..

I'm also interested to know any game that..doesn't really matter much on EQ and level but more emphasize on skills and raiding..

for the skills part, so far, blade and soul done it pretty well.

but for the raiding, i have yet to find anything as interesting as RO guild war / WoW raid.

Well, funnily enough I've met a lot more spoilt bratty immature kids in WoW than GW2. I guess maybe because of the huge player base.
