How you suppose to put desktop GTX 980 to the notebook. tongue.gif

Anyway, if you mean by upgrading your current notebook GPU to GTX980 for notebook GPU series (not the GTX980M version), it probably possible since D series (CLEVO P7xxM) using MXM 3.0 form factor 180W (115x83mm).
There are some variants of MXM 3.0 for GTX 980 notebook GPU series - so far there are 5 variants of MXM GTX980 notebook GPU that been known.

More info for GTX980 notebook GPU variants and image at here.
http://forum.techinferno.com/clevo/11083-g...l-variants.html

P/s: Planning to upgrade my current GPU (GTX980M to GTX980) as well, but see how the GTX980 work & performs, especially when handling the heat and power management, which my concern.

GTX 980 looks like don't have the standard size like old MXM III anymore cry.gif

If and only if I can fork out that RM999. Illegear did do Z5 Haswell with 970 price at RM4999 now versus Skylake 960 price at RM4599. I guess 960M should be quite overkill for online games. (seldom play offline game plus might just need a bit or so of CAD and Solidworks)
*
GTX970m performance is almost double of GTX 960m. DOTA 2 reborn requirement is getting higher. So... you should really think again. If GTX 965m I think is still can handle most of the game quite sometime. But 960m I dont think so.

Which you mean that Haswell with GTX970M is better than Skylake with GTX960M for long run?
*
Yes, definitely, exactly and obviously.
Performance wise, Skylake over Haswell is neglect-able. Skylake is good in efficiency and power saving only. Skylake bring a long of advantages on ultrabook and tablet for more battery life.

When comes to gaming notebook, they are they same. You won't benefit from Skylake compare with Hawell. And you will never want to game on battery.

I see. Thanks for your reply. But to remove Z5 battery need open up back cover to do so. Long period of gaming advisable to remove the battery?
*
Ah... another....

Don't ever try to removed battery or unplug while full in Today's Lithium battery.

The only way to protect Lithium battery is to let it fully charged all the time and don't ever use until it empty.

I am still in dilemma for that RM1k extra. Actually my usage will most probably with online games, some CAD, movie, music etc. Less likely will play a lot graphic demanding offline game

4999-4599=400

No? How is you come out with the 1k?

Ohh sorry, I mean was Skylake 970 versus 960 is RM1k. Skylake 960 and Haswell 970 and 960 is RM400.

You are making the thing complicated. Haha...
If budget was your concern, Haswell 970m is your best bet.

I think I will not provide any comment any more. blush.gif

Good luck ya! laugh.gif
