To what extent can ILLEGEAR upgrade your laptop? GPU is soldered on board = GPU cannot be upgraded? Wrong! Our customer has just upgraded his Nvidia GTX 765M to GTX 860M on his ILLEGEAR RE-15.

How can Illegear RX-17 EVO accommodate 2x Nvidia GTX 980M 8GB GDDR5 in SLI mode without overheating? Here are the tricks. The beast only uses 100% copper heatsink and heatpipe; each GTX 980M is served with triple heatpipe, individual heatsink, individual BIG fan and individual air vent.

Got mine re15evo yesterday. Very nice machine! Build quality better than my previous Asus.

The only thing is it's big & thick. the bag & sleeve is very nice.

Regretted choosing 4gb ram. Should go for 8gb.

Hi GuN,

Thanks for your support smile.gif

As for the RAM, you can come back to upgrade it later.

We just ran a 45 min Furmark burn-in test with Illegear Z5. We've got maximum temperature of 66 degree Celsius on Nvidia GTX 860M with Dual-heatpipe, dual-vent and duat fan cooling system. Impressive isn't it? http://www.illegear.com/products/illegear-z5/

Hi PJ,
What are the key difference between Z5 and RE-15 Evo?
The Intel® HM87 Express Chipset vs Clevo W355SSQ?
*
Z5
More GPU VRAM: 4GB
Has one subwoofer, better speakers
More stylish
Dual fan, dual vents, dual pipe: Cooling is about 8 to 10 degree Celsius lower than RE-15 EVO (it doesn't mean RE-15 EVO cooling is bad, 75C is considered very good too)
Lighter, slimmer

RE-15 EVO
More expandability (3 ram slots, 2 SATA slots + 1 mSATA slot)
Some extra features (with Soundblaster Cinema etc)
It has DVD rom (Z5 doesn't have DVD rom)

Appreciate the info.
The z5 has better cooling performance while
the RE-15 has more capability for expansion.

Z5 use Intel chipset while RE-15 is built on Clevo W355SSQ
How does the these 2 chipset compare?
*
No. Both models use Intel HM87 chipset, the W355SSQ is motherboard model name.
