Hey guys.
I just bought a blue Savvy manual 2005 m-line.
Just wonder is there any magician can fixed my cannot start symptoms around JB area.
Already change fuel pump and tdc sensor dekat potong. But some times still wukekekeke won't start at all. Potong mechanic say an error code with throttle body, and told me standby some fxckyou Money to change that reno turtle body for 1 thousand agong head .
Is there any other solution?

first thing first if you have fb, do add yourself to savoc group fb. one of the member "savvy blacknight" live in southern area. he can guide you on the JB workshop.

U change tdc sensor only or with the harness? From what i know, the tdc harness is the culprit that make the car hard to start (only cranking). Never heard tdc kong before. My tdc harness already soldered to the tdc. Better connection. No more cant start from 2009 til now (buy it secondhand). Only cant start cause no fuel or batt kong. haha.

If you searching for trottlebody, do ask in one of savvy fb buy / sell group. U can get it for a mere rm250 instead buy new for 1000++. look for "ciken lau" in fb. There are lotsa savvy owner change engine to turbo powered so their old engine dis assemble and sell part cheap2. same goes to gearbox. some of the savoc member already found out shop that sell savvy gearing. some mt box got 5th gear problem. mine is still ok. touchwood.  sweat.gif
*
Thanks for shifu suggestions.
I changed tdc sensor only . Potong pomen bluffing me they dun solder tdc if necessary. Then he recommend change fuel filter, walao eh when take out that fuel filter, kopi o color petrol spilled out shocking.gif . Looks like never change during this 9 years.
But the car still kadang kadang cannot start. Tow to potong sc cos I dunno where specialist doctor for Savvy in jb. If i sent the car to outside workshop, those half bucket water pomen saw my car would said " walao eh. Why you buy a ranjiao car? You jia lat si beh Kao lat loh, this car spare part si beh mahal loh. I think ur car ecu kaput, starter kaput...blar blar blar but they haven't touch my car already knew where the part kaput? rclxub.gif

Again under persuade of potong, says 100kkm 9years car fuel pump tak elok lagi. Sometimes got electric , sometimes not. So change that fuel pump. Mana tahu after 2 days wukekeke cannot start again. doh.gif
Alamak. Buang kereta Kat potong for 3 days. He say turtle body half dead, show " motorised throttle body failure" in computer checking. Still can use but not really rosak at all. If cannot start again can try cabut socket throttle keluar then pasang balik. doh.gif

I love my savvy so much for it's ride and handling. Savvy always my dream car when I was study sekolah kebangsaan when 2005. But the cannot start problem was a pain in arse. Sakit dekat buntut doh.gif

Hi, guys.
My manual savvy still cannot start.
Call plotong pomen came, tried all the ways from cabut battery head to tukar 2hen turtle body and also cabut pasang fuel pump relay, try spark plug connect cable one by one, cabut pasang ECU but my savvy still dun wanna start engine at all.

Anyone have experience like this? How to resolve this?
I also call pomen who have been fixing savvy amt around my house area, he also cannot make my car start. He even take other savvy punya ECU and throttle body try and try, still just cranking but not start.

We 3 big guys tried all the ways end up have to dump the car by roadside. Alamak sakit hati kaw kaw.

David goh, wa ga lu gong, jit jun jia lat liao cry.gif
We try to pasang new Renault ignition coil, new savvy ecu from proton sc.
Still cannot start the car. Looks like the hardware engine parts not rosaked .
Under savvy fuse box got a lot of wire, pomen try one by one wire using test pen.
But when goyang the wiring a bit, electric cannot went through. Seems like my savvy having wiring problems.

If I change all wiring in my savvy, how much does it cost?

Your kes also 1st time sofar I've heard. Since pomen ady diagnosed its wayaring eh boonteh, might as well ask pomen kontiniu wayar it out lor. Shawie engine management harness should be around 800 iinm, provided if that's the oni thing that kacau lar. Pls direkly deal wt ur pomen better.

FYI, I bought the kar hor, wa eh reverse sensor pai ki liao. Change fuse lar, change the reverse paking sensor lar, change reverse gear suis lar, change beeper lar, change reverse bulp lar, hamik ranjiau related to reverse pun uah kah liao pun si beh settel. In the end, pull 1 more kabel direk from reverse suis sambung all the way back to reverse light, everything function properly, reverse sensor all working liao. This saids, original wayaring memang sudah kena gigit tikus liao sleep.gif

Finally found out the culprit make my car gila gila won't start was the Savvy meter (manual) failure.
Salute to plotong service centre taman Tampoi utama pomen Mr. Leong. notworthy.gif

He almost gone crazy to find the broken parts through wires, fuses, relays and all the electric connectors during these couples of days. rclxub.gif
Even go to borrow and buy the service manual and wiring diagrams from HQ. Nowadays hard to find such a good pomen.

Cost me around $400, $300 for the new Original Savvy Meter which order from KL sent by super fast courier and $100 for the labour.
$100 labour charge for 6 days check through wires ECU sensors.... That's dirt cheap.

I'm just wondering why a failed meter can causing car starting problems? hmm.gif
And also why a failed meter cannot be diagnosed by plugin OBD2 to computer?
I thought amt version was more relying on meter readings , but why manual version is also affected? hmm.gif

Anyway problem solved, my ride live and kicking again. thumbup.gif

Your savvy is Hi-spec one?
I heard ppl from foreign Renault forums discuss about earth cable/ earth strap also affected start up problems.
Their kangoo 1.2 petrol version or Clio MK3 using d4f740 engine which quite similar to us. Their stock engine come with 2 earth cable, 1 is located from battery negative terminal connect to the chasis; while another one was a "w" shape with 3 flat head connect from bottom of gearbox to engine block and go to the chasis.
It's easily to corroded or snapped due to high heat and moisture come from engine.
Once broken, shit happened.
Just wonder do our Savvy got exactly same earth cable with their engine?
Did anyone lay down and check it out?

Btw, remove the last part of your comment. I'm from insurance company. You do not want to risk losing fire coverage nod.gif Who knows those officer come lurk around and make a record on your "intention" eh

Thanks for the remind, David gor.
Since you from insurance company, would you mind I ask a little question abit out of topic? icon_question.gif
Is like that har, my uncle hor he bought a Avanza last year lah.
But sometimes he lupa turn off engine and take out car key when sampai rumah teres wangsa maju sana lah.
He always left the car engine idling when he wanna buka pagar rumah.
And last week he banyak sway siao, 2 India guys hop on his car and drove off.
Sky quite dark cause It was midnight, he didn't saw that 2 guys face.
He direkly go balai polis report polis dulu, baru inform insurance company.
Sarjan polis: Dia dua orang ada pegang pisau atau senapang tak?
My uncle : Tak da
Sarjan: You ada nampak muka dia orang tak?
My uncle : Tak da. I turun kereta tapi engine tak mati, buka pagar rumah, dia 2 orang India naik kereta pandu lari.

Then when the guy from insurance datang, my uncle explain the whole story as what he told to the sarjan.
Then insurance guy fuk him kaw kaw, say him may not get covered by insurance , even what he say was truth.
How come like this har doh.gif ?
Insurance cover theft , fire burn...but not hijacking?

Can be done, provided the ECU is capable to utilize the hardware upgrade. 3% of saving... and the possibilities to do such upgrade can be up to few thousands(if ECU are not included in the said upgrade). I wonder how many years will it take to cover the cost of modification for that 3% of savings, considering our usable petrol volume per tank is about 35litres.

Technically, valve lift can be tighten to save fuel for urban driving. It gets better pickup, and utilize less fuel. On high speed cruising, due to tight valve lifting, u get a counter effect which burden the medium/high speed momentum. On the other hand, my own Shawie tepet is ultra noisy, which greatly benefit on high speed cruising. I can easily do 500km/tank of ROM95. Once challenged 600km for 1 tank nod.gif But my urban driving FC sucks doh.gif

Wow! Your savvy can pump up to Rm70. biggrin.gif
While mine can only pump up to Rm60 nia even the price of Ron95 has raised to rm2.30 per litre.
It last me about 480km for 100% urban driving when the fuel warning blinking. doh.gif

If talk about fuel consumption, engine condition really is a big concerns.
Last time when my Iswalah carburetor healthy tip top condition, I can use 1 tank 34 litres ron95 pergi balik JB --Melaka 650km, and there is still Left 1/5 fuel in the fuel tank.
But now carburetor half dead, full tank 320km nia. doh.gif

Savvy-ers, I went to RenauTech yesterday to check my car. Just general check up of the engine and the results were timing belt and coolant changed. They also changed the reverse light bulb. Anyway, since then, everytime i open my door (when the machine is on) the emergency indicator also turned on. Before it wasn't like that. Is this normal? Or the technician accidentally "made" it like that?

Thank u in adv for the reply...
*
I also have that symptoms, when open door even engine is off, emergency light blinking for few seconds.
But it happens after I change alarm system of my Savvy.

I bought a second hen savvy, the previous owner gave me only one faulty alarm car key.
No choice, bo bian. If wanna alarm systems, have to go accessories shop pasang.

Before that, using car key open door manually, no such emergency light blinking problems.
Gone to proton sc check, says no faulty code. rclxub.gif

Now already get used to it. Sometimes if I open door for few minutes, my car will blow whistle also. (alarm sound whee you whee). whistling.gif

Hi. Today a uncle foreman told me no need to use elf gear oil to replace, using normal gear oil will do.
Is it true?
Savvy can use cap ayam sensor (tdc, water temp, power steering switch, thermostat, water pump....) or not?
Because that uncle says: Aiya, nobody use ori parts for this car lah, so expensive, cap ayam or recond parts lagi murah lagi senang order lah...blar blarblar...

Hi. Does anyone experience same situation as I am?
When my savvy cruising, there's a duk duk duk duk sound from bottom of engine room. Just like driving a speedboat on the land.
The sound getting louder if I speed faster, sometimes when cornering the sound appeared.
Quite worrying cos I going to have a long travel distance on next month. From jb to hatyai.

But shit always happens whenever you slipped out of mind.
I dent my Savvy buntut and also rear tail lamp.

But I saw an abandoned Savvy along the road in somewhere of Malay kampung.
Can I go and cabut the things I need? Is it an offence?

Enjoy corner. Enjoy Savvy. May G force be with you.

1)power steering switch leaked, I just dun give a damn about it, add power steering fluid when needed.

2)front absorber still in good shape, my savvy is a 2005 first batch certified by German sausages. But rear absorbers are not so lucky, just changed to no brand recond oil base absorber due to my dad's fren suggestions, he open a half cut shop.

3)lower arm still in good shape, last month just checked by potong sc.

4) my car was a MT one, so cannot giving suggest.

5)throttle body I always wash it with petrol , sometimes when I go for potong service the car, ask them reset it by computer, usually F.O.C.

6)my savvy just changed front brake pistons last month, due to uneven brake makan. A pair of repair kit for kiri-kanan + brake pads +labour =250

7) rear brake cylinder is really a headache issues. Mine jammed 4 months ago, get serviced by potong, but now feels kinda tak makan when I pulled handbrake to park the car at slope, car will slowly sliding.how to solve? Dun give a damn, when i parking always shift to gear 1, when car got masuk gear, it won't slip.

8)speedometer belum kong yet, but I keep a aftermarket one in my trunk.

9) brake switch problems? Haven't encounter yet.

10) fuel pump fried 5 months ago. It has greater chance to happen if ur car more than 7 years. Mine due to last owner never changed fuel filter, dirty things clogged inside, the whole fuel pump was black like charcoal.

12) ekzos is a gift from last owner, he changed it before selling the car to me.

13) use cosway 10w40 roadmaster. Change every 7000km.

14) first I use ron95, but knocking when first gear. Then when fuel price dropped, changed ron97. Knocking less, and feel more torque.

15) get tinted from groupon, Agard rm188 package. To me, I use savvy as daily car + working horse + go kart + pickup/van. Why spent so much on a few grand value only small car?
Just drive it, attack corner with it, guna sampai jadi besi buruk.

17) using NCT 5, i like the slippery feel in corner. For me I can use one set 4 tyres only last for 3 months.

18) changed all mat to rubber tray. Easy to clean.
