umm... how come you all use RM1 = xx km? Because this figure is not accurate if you're pumping say... Petronas and Shell. Not only that, it's will give you an artificially poor FC figure because when oil price go up, you'd think your car has poorer FC when actually it could very well be the same.

It's better to use the km/liter method right?

Its not like the oil price goes up and down everyday what, you can always include the price of fuel at that point.

Unless you pay for fuel in liters, or nothing better to do, quoting RM/km @ RM1.92 is easier to see at first glance, no need to tekan calculator

It still gives an artificially increased fuel consumption, and if today you pump Shell, tomorrow you pump Caltex, it would show different consumption, and you can't really tell if Shell really gives you more bang for your buck or not. Plus you need to remember what was the last purchase price of your fuel and what brand. Way more complicated. Maybe you guys have better memory so easier for you to remember. Forgetful people like me normally pump full tank reset trip meter, and the next time I pump full tank, I see how many liters I pump, and how many km i travelled. It's much easier to divide 400km/40 liters than 400km/RM78. And it's a little more accurate.

I get 7 km / liter city driving, 11km / liter highway driving. Mazda 626 V6 2L

The most accurate way to measure is to
1) Fill up full tank
2) Reset odometer
3) Drive like normal
4) Refill full tank again
5) Take the second refill in litres and compare against the distance travelled since your last refill.
6) Repeat steps 1 - 5 at least 3 times and get an avg.

This calculation will not go wrong. Try to compare in terms of km/l, since petrol prices fluctuate a lot, these days, making comparisons in terms of RM difficult.

This should be repeated at every page of every fuel consumption thread laugh.gif

I get 9km/11.5km per liter city/highway on my 1992 Mazda 626 (now sold)
I get 7.5km/9km per liter city/highway on my 2004 Cefiro 2L.
