Hey guys, need some suggestion here..

I have my a CRT monitor, and i'd like to use this monitor for both my CPU and 360 (equiped with 360's VGA cable). So i found this switch that i think it might very useful for my CPU & 360 in order for me to change the visual. The question is, does this switch work for 360? or was it meant only for PC's?

This is the switch im talking about. The 2 Ports;

Technically, it should work. As the kvm switch is only to switch between the input of the video signal. Think of it as a Y cable with a switch smile.gif

I use a D-Link 2port KVM, it uses kb keypress to switch pc and it requires the ps/2 ports to be plugged in to a powered port.

eg: the KVM PC2 cable is connected to xbox360 vga, but the kbd/mouse arent connected, the KVM wont switch to PC2, it assumes no pc is connected. I had to plug the kbd/mse to a powered PC to fool it.

i dont know how it goes on other brands, but better check first before u purchase it.

squiggles, That depends on the quality of the KVM switch. What you're facing with using a KVM switch is video signal distortion or inteference. As you know it's Analog. Not DVI which is Digital.

Correct me if i'm wrong as i'm not sure myself, what i just said is based on my common sense laugh.gif I might be wrong tho sweat.gif

But to the naked eyes, i dont think it'll be a problem smile.gif

metalgrindsolid, have you tested both? with and without the KVM switch? If So, pls elaborate more. Thanks smile.gif

I've tested both, with and without KVM switch. I can assure you that there'll be no loss on video quality. And I don't see any loss on brightness, sharpness and colour too.

I have a KVM last time.. its a ATEN brand, which is good for its KVM products. It served me well till I got my LCD which did dual display switching via its DVI/VGA ports.

Before I got a widescreen LCD for use with my x360, I was using a switch with my CRT monitor to switch between PC and x360. The switch I got was a cheap one (less than RM30) that only has video switching as opposed to keyboard/video/mouse on a KVM. I almost bought a KVM switch but realised I'll be paying extra for the mouse/keyboard switching for nothing. Anyway, either a video switch or a KVM switch, both will work.
