Bought at Sri Computer(i know haha) but their pricing is slightly lower than other shop @ RM1190

If you wanna buy from Viewnet , it's RM1250 and they'll give you an AMD Never Settle game coupon , they also sell galaxy cards which is quite interesting.

But for Asus Strix most of the shops that I've been to it's usually out of stock and I don't see any Gigabyte cards(gtx 970/980) anywhere either

Performance wise it's very good, idle temp is around 32-38 degrees and at full load (benchmark with unigine heaven) , it ran up to 76 degrees which is acceptable to me


A of now, I don't notice any coil whine yet. hopefully it stays that way

currently it only applies for Asus card.

Don't have any plan on messing with the oc yet , stock clock speed seems fine at the moment.

Anyone here plays world of tanks? Seems having issue with low fps, i observed the gpu usage only hits around 51-53 percent max.. Is this a driver issue or just an unoptimised game bcoz my R9 290 played just fine before.

yup, i did use ddu prior installing the driver, didn't use ccleaner though. Hmm ok , I will reinstall the driver again and see how it goes.

The phantom version? then it's yes. One of the highest out of the box overclock gtx 970 out there. I also intended to get it but the 2.5 slot design will impede my airflow( i have a sound card at the bottom).

But if you go to viewnet and the purchase the MSI Tiger there, they will give you an AMD Never Settle Reload game coupon instead , not joking bcoz I enquired the salesman there few weeks back and he gave that reply

still if you can get the R9 290 cheaply, i suggest go in that route, I don't see much improvement compared to gtx 970 for example, though in games like Skyrim with ENB modding, you can definitely see vast performance improvement with the gtx 970, mainly no more stuttering and random fps drops

it's stable, for screen tearing , use adaptive v-sync in Nvidia control panel and enable v-sync in game, should iron out the tearing most of the times. tdp will be slightly higher than the reference card, but it's not a biggie bcoz this maxwell card is very power efficient. The temp is also cooler.

Only the 290X has an 8GB memory buffer bro, theoretically it's faster than the 290 and neck to neck/ a bit faster than the 290X but in some games , but sometimes the amd card is faster likewise vise versa nvidia is faster in other games. One thing for sure you can definitely max out most of the games out there with this card

You can get away with 4GB, i don't play xplane10, just be generous with the texture packs, this thing can eat up the vram pretty fast

Just found a fix for Dragon Age Inquisition. If you're suffering from frame hitching , go to nvidia control panel , change power management option to 'maximum performance' and turn on the triple buffering option.

It completely remove the annoying frame hitching and the game ran a lot more smoother (really2 please with this fix)

Though I tried the same fix on BF4 and the frame hitching is still there . I'm pretty convinced now that's a driver issue right.

that's called frame hitching, I encountered it when playing DA:I and BF4, turned out Origin was the problem.

Just post your problem there, have a feeling its driver issue rather than hardware related.

have u tried unchecking all the notifications and enabled origin in game in the application settings? that totally fix most of my problems

The Crew, Assassins Creed Unity and Far Cry 4. You can choose one game only.

temp-at idle is around 35-36 degrees while at full load it's 76 degrees(it stays relatively at this temp).

For noise , at load I won't say its the most quietest of card(compared to my asus directcuii, that one is dead silent) but it's certainly not an annoyingly loud card at all. My cpu stock fan is louder though(need to clean it )

If you're coming from previous generation of gpus, this would be a big upgrade
