QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ May 13 2014, 05:18 PM) Yes. Even though it is just an entry level, but sufficient enough for people with low budget like me. I'm waiting AMD answer for this GPU. Will consider either GTX 750 Ti or R7 260X / 265X next for my brother's PC depend on the price performance ratio. I suggest go with the R9-270 without the x as the price increase is a just bit more than the gtx 660 and the r7-265 , performance wise this card beats both of them |

Wow, the gtx 980 performance is really impressive. Now I'm seriously thinking of upgrading again

QUOTE(hooh888 @ Sep 24 2014, 01:57 PM) Yeah, I like it too since I'm in the midst of building a black and blue build. My only concern is the GPU length, because it's 312mm long, the Corsair Carbide Air 540 I'm using has a 320mm maximum length for GPUs with the front case fans on, means no space for 360mm radiator in the front, therefore I will most probably ditch the idea of getting this. its still possible to get a gtx 970 with the 360mm rad , try have a look at the zotac card. Their cheapest variant with the dual fans design looks pretty short. And it only requires a single 6 pin power connector |

QUOTE(raydenex @ Sep 27 2014, 08:47 PM) Shared on the Unigine Heaven thread but thought I'd put this here as well. Hmm, I'm having 2nd thought of upgrading now Went further with the overclock, results as follows; [attachmentid=4150089] Score: 1862 Core: 1331mhz, boosted to 1444mhz observed during Heaven run Mem: 1950mhz Max Temp: 74degrees Fan Curve: Max 70% Overvolting: None Board Power Limit: 113% Target Temperature: 85degrees My 2 cents on the little debate over the Maxwell cards, pricing position of the 980 & on early adopters getting screwed with a 980ti imminent; First and foremost as sincerely and truthfully as possible, no intention to step on anybody's tail here. If that happens, hold your horses and remind yourself everyone is entitled to their opinions, and circumstances that affect you and your decisions may not affect someone else's.. but in giving these opinions we should care not to be condescending and trample over somebody else's parade. With that out of the way, personally, yes early adopters know what we're up for. Just like the 780 when released, in full knowledge of the disabled parts of the GK110 chip, of course a fully enabled one was coming, in due time. But that's the thing about early adopters, they usually accept this as the reality of it, and are really not much concerned. When the 980ti is released, heck, the early adopter would probably get that too. For myself personally, this is very much a hobby and switching GPU's every few months is a norm. The couple of hundreds lost each time an old card is sold when a new one is about to be purchased, gets pretty substantial when added up over time, but hey there are costlier hobbies out there. The 980 not a true successor to the 780ti? That's entirely true. The price position of the 980 should be lower, in comparison to the 970's? Entirely true as well. The 780ti worth holding on to until the 980ti is released? Absolutely agreed! All I'm saying is, we don't have to make the early adopters sound like they were irrational and had poor-decision making when choosing to get what they get. An immature would probably read this and call me butthurt, but I'm not really. The level-headed amongst you would get what I'm trying to send across here. Cheers. QUOTE(Najmods @ Sep 28 2014, 07:40 AM) Sold mine for RM1.1k, bought 1.2k so its not a big loss. Well, only people using 290 knows how its like to use this beast Its definitely a nice card to have QUOTE(KHOdin @ Sep 28 2014, 05:36 PM) upgrading your psu wouldn't be a bad thing. More headroom will allow better flexibility and prolong the lifespan of your psu |

QUOTE(Skidd Chung @ Nov 1 2014, 10:50 PM) Not sure why but every time I try to scan for games on the geforce experience my windows freezes. Use DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/displa...r-download.html to uninstall (pick option with safe mode) , then download fresh driver from Nvidia website then install. Nvidia released a new whql driver few days ago.Update: My GTX 970 runs Dayz worse than my 280x. FFS! |

QUOTE(pot @ Nov 21 2014, 10:01 AM) My asus 970 strix have coil whine when running windows experience index on windows 7. But dind't notice when gaming on FF14 or D3 ROS. Close the side casing can't listen at all. It shouldn't affect the lifespan. Try run benchmark softwares like unigine heaven or valley and see if it runs ok or not.Does the coil whine affect the life span? Just minor i need my ear close to casing to spot it. |
