QUOTE(DreamScars @ Oct 9 2014, 11:42 PM) already did that and seems like it went back to normal after i minimized everything and did absolutely nothing, now it stays low and no longer spikes. (spiked for a whole hour this noon, probably because i left the browser maximized.) thanks for your suggestions anyway What kind of browser did you use? I never have any of that on Firefox even when watching flash videos

With Maxwell cooler doesn't make much impact as long as it's not reference cooler. I could get great load temps (under 60C) when I ramp up my fan to 70% which still inaudible. At whatever default fan speed is it never ever touch it's temperature target and stay at it's boosted clock of 1304MHz
I don't like Gigabyte ultra long card and from some user reviews they are noisy of all the cards. That heavy cooler is gonna sag like old grandma tits for sure.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 12 2014, 12:37 AM) Even the reference cooler (which is dumbed down from the Titan/780Ti/780 cooler) is absolutely fine actually. Reference 980s don't even run beyond 80c with a mild overclock. 79c sounds a little high for Maxwell. I even mean a reference 980 only reaches 80c after a mild overclock. The reason it doesn't go over 80C is because that is it's target temperature. Once that reached it will throttle down, doesn't matter what your clock is, it will throttle to maintain that temperature, means yes it sure is overclocked but you need to monitor it's clockspeed whether it actually run at that speed or throttled speed.

QUOTE(DreamScars @ Oct 11 2014, 10:19 PM) I ran unigine heaven with my zotac 970 omega and max temp reaches 79c on default factory oc. Isn't that a little high? Kinda regret my purchase :/ . I heard Asus MSI and gigabyte stays well below 70c. Check your fan speed. If it's low you can ramp it up manually so it run cooler

QUOTE(rav3n82 @ Oct 16 2014, 06:49 PM) Does it have that issue that was earlier brought up a few threads ago? I think it was sticker issue right? The sticker issue is more of some people rip the sticker too hard damaging the fan. Just pull it slowly while putting finger on the fan on the center of the fan, it will come out nicely

While everyone keeps moaning about 8GB cards I'm enjoying mine. Since Maxwell II BIOS editor and nvflash is now mature enough I start to mod my VBIOS, now it runs max 1455.5MHz GPU Boost by default, without throttle and increased power limit to 250W default and max 300W. Rock stable, not testing for highest overclock but I done some testing with 1555MHz core and 8000MHz memory it's rock stable and only reaching 70C on Fire Strike. Best Card. EVER

QUOTE(law1777 @ Nov 3 2014, 07:27 PM) Not really, my ASIC quality is only 65.8% which is quite low. I surprised it can go that high

Regarding the coil whine, on my card it did have a sound when I first bought it but after some time the noise reduced significantly. There are some noise at very high framerate typically on menu screen (try F.E.A.R or Crysis main menu). Other than that its pretty much silent.
