Is it possible to have the insurance ncd of my old car transferred to my new purchase which is a second hand car? How does it actually work? Or can i just have 2 cars under my name with the same insurance NCD? Please advise people. tq.
edit: Basically i'll be having 2 cars till i sell my old car.

QUOTE(ivanpei @ Feb 23 2014, 10:40 AM) When you terminate your earlier car insurance you should ask for an Endorsement letter. The insurance company will give you a letter endorsing your no claim discount. Then you just pass this to the new car sales agent and you can automatically get your no claim discount. im not gonna terminate it first. gonna have two cars under my name till i have another buyer for my old car. will i still be able to get ncd for new car ? QUOTE(LTZ @ Feb 23 2014, 04:52 PM) In my case...when I sold my car....a month later insurance also expired. Too busy to cancel right away. So with my new car can I go to the previous car insurance (expired 3 months ago) to transfer NCD?? Try calling your insurance agency. I just did and for my case they told me i just gotta get the ncd entitlement letter and pay extra for my old car as it will be calculated without ncd. For your case most probably you just gotta go and collect the ncd entitlement letter and transfer to your new car's insurance. keep in mind if u don't collect ur ncd entitlement/leave it null for long it'll depreciate on yearly basis.

QUOTE(myroadtax.com @ Feb 26 2014, 09:19 AM) The process is tedious because you use different companies. To do NCD transfer, you should always use the same company. Not really. It's not that tedious. Just gotta ask your current insurance company to do NCD withdrawal and pay the outstanding fees then you register to a new company . It'll be updated in the NCD system once you withdraw the NCD and the new company will know and be able to help you utilize the NCD for the new insurance.

QUOTE(myroadtax.com @ Feb 28 2014, 08:20 AM) Everybody knows that my friend, in theory that is. See how you do it in real life. Most insurance agent will give you the run around. Anyways good luck! Thought of updating here. Just paid my insurance for the remaining period and withdrawn the NCD. Did all of it around an hour. Didn't use any agent's but liased directly with the company which in my case was RHB. Called them and got a quote and went to the branch and paid the quoted amount. Emailed the documents and call them, they immediately checked my email and replied with attached NCD letter. Good service by them. Hope others can use this as a reference point.
