Is it possible to have the insurance ncd of my old car transferred to my new purchase which is a second hand car?
How does it actually work?
Or can i just have 2 cars under my name with the same insurance NCD?
Please advise people. tq.

edit: Basically i'll be having 2 cars till i sell my old car.

Yes it is possible. U might get back certain amount of premium from your existing insurance as long it has not reach the 'due' date for the following year repayment.

Like mentioned by other member, you can get your used car agent to do deal with your existing insurance company for the withdrawal and transfer the NCD to another car (if both same insurance its even better)

Haha, can't la NCD only can apply to ONE car at one time.... laugh.gif

Yes. If you 'hold' your existing NCD 'without' having a car/transfer, it will decrease year by year till 0%...

U can check here your NCD https://ncd.ism.net.my/publicncdenq/index.htm

need some advise
my situation::
*my 1st car already have 55% NCD (due untill 28/3)
*my 2nd car right now i purchase with new insurance with 0% NCD and it will due untill 4/3..
( and to my understanding my 2nd car will have 25% NCD for my next renewal )

the question is:
so what should i do if i want to transfer the 55% NCD(from my 1st car) to my 2nd car??
and still retain the 25% NCD(originally from my 2nd car for my next renewal) to my 1st car???

From my understand, your 1st car will become ZERO NCD once you transfer to 2nd car (which you should have do it during the purchase the 2nd car - by on the other hand not sure can you still get back 1st party coverage on your 1st car after that since nowadays insurance company dun take/offer 1st party for 'old' car....

As for once you 'overwritten' the 55% to your 25% NCD, by right your 25% will become zero.....unless you do a 'swap'

E.g CURRENTLY

1. 55% on OLD Car > your sum insure of the car for sure lower than new car after many years of depreciation (unless this is more 'expensive' car then 2nd car)
2. 25% on NEW Car > your sum insured is HIGH due new car....in order to LOWER it you use 55% to increase the discount....and move this 25% to old car...

I hope you get what i mean...
