Since you are coming from sgs2,  i suggest you to replace and get a new sim card as I believe yours one is not lte enabled.

if you want to use back the micro sim in your sgs2, just get a sim card adapter. Plenty out there in the market now. But once you change it to note 3, i doubt you will wanna go back to sgs2 as the screen will be too small after that.

Flash with odin lo. Or flash back stock recovery and kernel.  Or get rid of custom phone status. 
If it is stuck best to reboot. But you will then find your phone cannot boot and in the end will need to reflash the firmware with odin.

why do you want to update by ota when you are already rooted. ota is buggy. modified or not it doesn't matter as you can always download original firmware and flash using odin

Custom recovery means system is modified means no ota.

Go look for the stock recovery.img and flash with MOP or Odin. Check if your download mode is still in official status. Then you can ota. Also kernel need to be stock.

Having same problem as urs..am using celcom..sitting beside  one of my fren tat using same telco..suddenly the signal from my note 3 gone with no entry symbol poped out while my fren that using diff phone but same telco dun face tis problem..full reception.

I believe you are using xnote. Xnote come with a bloatware called ifont. Use that to change your font.
