Hi fellow seniors, I was wondering is my card ready to be use in paying bills or online transactions without receiving the card yet? Everything is linked to my m2u accounts, but I have yet not received the letter from them for 7 days upon receiving the sms approval.

it is better to wait for your physical cc to arrive first before activating it and start using it. if you activate it and use it without first receiving the cc, it's ok actually (provided nothing happens to your cc). but if something happens to your cc (meaning that the cc doesn't arrive to you - lost in the mail or etc.), it will become a big problem to you.

thank you so much for fast reply. urm, basically i've requested to collect the cc from their branch on a shopping complex actually. but they say they will send me a letter before i can go to collect my card at that particular branch.

just for sharing...
if you have activated your cc but it does not arrive to you later on:
1) it's considered as you lost your cc = need to pay for a replacement
2) if someone used your cc for any transaction (especially the ones that doesn't need signature like automated fuel dispenser), you cannot give reason that you have not receive your cc because you have activated it. so you have to admit that you lost it = you need to pay for replacement + all the transaction amount involved (maybe waivable but surely need to wait for the investigation results by the bank, etc).
*
wow. I didn't get to realize that. thank you. anyway I've collected my card.

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Mar 13 2014, 01:10 PM)
maybe you should reconfirm with them again, whether you could use your IC to collect the card...
i remember to collect my card without having the letter..
but for my case, it a replacement card..

so i not sure it will work for new application though...
*
thanks for replying. I received the letter last friday and collected it yesterday.

QUOTE(DarReNz @ Mar 13 2014, 02:56 PM)
yeah it's better to activate later, i realized that you can transfer money into the credit card when it is not activated
*
I get to realize it too. kinda risky for me though.

anyway, I was wondering I did fuel up my car with my AMEX card for RM50 at Petron just now, but I received SMS stated that I've fuel up for RM200 is it any normal? hmm

you fuel up using automated fuel dispenser right? usually it will block rm200 from your cc. if you don't prefer this, you may go to the cashier to swipe your cc.

another thing to share is, let's say if you have used up your credit limit, left only rm190 credit limit in your cc, you won't be able to pump using automated fuel dispense anymore since it will block rm200 but your credit limit is not enough. so you may go to the cashier and swipe it for any amount up to rm190.
*
yeah, I've used the automated fuel dispenser. Is it only applicable to only Petron or all other petrol stations as well? I wonder how long that the system will credit back the remaining unused balance from the RM200?

it doesnt actually charged to your card.

it just pre-allocate a certain amount from your card (cuz using card, it's use-first-pay-later). once transaction is completed, the RM200 will be released/canceled  immediately and actual transacted amount will be charged instead.

yesterday i tried to preset a certain value prior authorizing card. sweat.gif i still gotten SMS notification of RM200, but actually charge is only the preset amount.

no worries, most of us aware of this. If this is some kind of scam/system loophole, banks & petrol operators already gotten more complaints liao  thumbup.gif

wow. I didn't even get to know this before. Guess there's much for me to learn here. Is it possible for me to reload my TnG card with AMEX? Is it better to do so? Because currently, I reloaded TnG via cash consistently for every month and my monthly spending for the card is lesser than .5k. Hmm

yes, you can reload TnG with AMEX. problem is to know where.

so far, only one Petronas station accepts Amex to reload TnG. Google Map: https://maps.google.com/?ll=3.050373,101.62...002642&t=h&z=19

I whacked RM400 into TnG earlier this month (will be expecting RM20 cashback for using Amex during weekend). Do note Petronas has 1% cash surcharge if you use any credit card to reload TnG. So, if you reload RM400, surcharge is RM4 only. you'll get back RM16 in effective cashback biggrin.gif

thanks for the uber fast reply. guess it's not worth for me to travel that far just to reload TnG unless I'm somewhere nearby during weekends.

Besides that, does anyone know how does EPP works with our MBB AMEX card? Especially with Harvey Norman? Recently, I've purchased with 12 months installments, with 0% interest rate. I was wondering is there any extra charges from the bank or is the bank freezing the total amount that I've purchased until I've completed the whole payment for the installments? rclxub.gif

check this old topic, relevant though https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/671053/all

not sure if amex epp treatment is the same as visa/mastercard epp. some reading at Maybank http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...sonal/CRD-Cards

QUOTE(sj0217 @ Mar 18 2014, 09:47 AM)
no exp EPP with Harvey Norman, but EPP with Amex in SenQ.

Eg: EPP RM1,200 for 1 year, so RM100 per month, your CL will block by this amount and will restore back CL by monthly payment until the end.

If there have come with 0% interest, mean no extra charge from the bank, and you can see your receipt when you sign, there will indicated of monthly amount that you need to pay.

As I know, some shop they will slightly increase the price of item that you going to EPP, not sure about this.
*
correct me if I'm wrong, means to say MB will block the whole amount which in your case RM1.2k, will restore RM100 of CL gradually each month if the payment had been made right?

The other concern now is the treat points & as well as the cash back, basically, I've signed it on last week Saturday. What would be the treat points & cash back, let's say the amount is RM1.2k? Would it be counted from the whole amount or the amount payable each month?

Yes you are correct, CL will be restore each month and block for whole amount from your CL.

About TP, there will be one lum sum as calculation. Mean you will be received rebate RM50 plus your point for your next statement.

Different credit card different process, as I know uob is doing each month return for cask back.
*
yes, you are right about the TP. I've just checked my M2U, it reflected the 5x of the amount purchased. But it's weird because the fuel transaction 1 day after the purchase from Harvey Norman, is already reflected on M2U, but not my EPP purchase from Harvey Norman. Hmm...

Hi, thanks. Everything was ok except the 3rd step.

If you are a first time Bills & Statement user, you will be prompted to "Accept Stop Hardcopy T&C". Click Accept.

I don't have this prompt. But I just follow the 4th step & on.

Is it ok? Thanks again.

Hi fellow seniors, I did stumble upon with number of previous replies in regards to AMEX unauthorized transactions. What would be the best workaround to safely use AMEX for online transactions? Would Paypal somehow will reduce the risk? My another concern is, is it by paying TnB, Unifi, DG or even Movie Ticketing be it (TGV or GSC) by AMEX through online transactions would also increase the risk of getting exploit? hmm.gif

I was wondering is it possible to pay Digi bills via AMEX directly from M2U? If I not mistaken, I think could be done. But today, my payment option is only limited to my Master & Savings. Any advice?
