Hi,

I am curious about the maybank easy payment scheme. Lets say I have a card with the limit rm5000. And I purchase an item worth rm5000 via the credit card using the 12 month easy payment scheme.Meaning I have to pay around rm417 a month for 12 months.

My question here is will I be able to purchase other items after this or I would have to wait till I finish the payment of rm5000?

Thanks
acbc

No. U have to finish paying the RM 5k before u can use the card again. However, as u pay up, the balance will be available again.

u can use back the card whenever u make payment. If your easy payment amt is same as your card credit limit, then your credit limit is 0, meaning u got no credit unless u want to be charged for overlimit.

And u also cannot settle your easy payment earlier be4 they charge you on yoru bill, else there will be a penalty.

not really. Lets say the 1st month is 417, the 2nd month if TS pays full again it, the credit limit will increase back to 417+417=834 and the credit will increase back every mth or whenever TS make payment loo.

The bank wants people to spend more, but they also have to control the users who cannot afford so much geh, after become like subprime looo ..cannot control oredi.

Yeaps....bacause when u sign for easy payment, its actually a deal you have with them. Its actually stated clearly in their terms and conditions. But maybe different banks got different terms geh, u can always check out with your bank.

Hmm.. this is totally different from what I am experiencing. I paid for something with easy payment. And the next day, I have the whole amount of credit back.

Eg. My limit is 5,000. I sign up something 2400 with monthly payment of 100. I still have credit of 4900.

you can use your remaining credit balance only.
calculation is like this.

5000 - (cumulative monthly installment + other purchased by using cc) = remaining credit available.

btw, some easypayment is not good at all. based on shop owner i think (i bought hp before with easypayment).
they will charge like rm100 and added to hp original price.

That's why before you purchased using Easy Payment or instalment programme, you must inquire if there's any price difference and any hidden charges such as processing fee and etc.

My experience with Dell Online didn't come with these little tricks.

For the merchant, normally the EPP used is block-off entire amount, and release based on monthly payment, as mentioned in earlier post.

e.g. 5k, next month pay 417, means available CL is 417. 4583 is still blocked-off.

Note that there is another type of EPP by merchant (not banks), which is also mentioned above. The merchant will prepare some forms for you to sign. Instead of block-off the entire sum in your CC, the merchant will claim the amount every month.

e.g. 6k CL, purchase 6k with 6 mthly payment x 1k.

Jan : CL 6k - 1k = bal 5k CL
TS pay RM1k
Feb : back to CL 6k - 1k = bal 5k CL
TS pay RM500
Mar : CL only 5.5k - 1k = bal 4.5k CL
...
...

The latter type is normally applicable for huge amount purchase, normally 5-6 digits.

But my CC bill came, i also feel confuse bout it.

I also made a EPP with 12mths installment. But the bill there still show my full credit limit over there. Isn't they need to put the limit i have on the bill??

For MBB statement, it only states credit limit and not available credit. For OCBC they do state Credit Limit and Available credit.

Credit Limit=Available Credit + Credit Used

Agree...
Interest in banking industry so important for them..

Same when they increase your credit limit, they will say it as an appreciation for our loyalty (to pay interests).
More credit limit, more probability late payment, then comes the interests. Its a life of banks.

i think eazy payment scheme is special case.. as long you have credit card with maybank, you can apply for eazy payment and it depends on ur credit limit as well.

So lets say :

CL - RM5000
Item - RM5000 / 12 = RM416.66 (each month)

CL Balance = RM4583.34

You credit limit will remain RM4583.34 until you finish paying for 12 months but well you can request to pay all lump sum (if needed). So now if you want to do another eazy payment scheme it will depends on your RM4583.34 credit limit.

if im not mistaken correct me if im wrong

same thing happens to me. do epp using maybank cc. but strangely, my available balance is only minus the months payment amount, not the entire purchase amount. once, call the cs, they confirm that i shouldnt have the 'extra' balance. she even say that i over limit already, but no penalty whatsoever in statement. i can still use the cc..very strange...the next month or so, they increase my cl without me applying for it...

i have no link for reference, but it makes sense tho. Unless u paid full amount with credit card and u want to pay them installment, call cs asked for split the amount. This is diff case, i guess epp is special case.

Last time i have swiped once RM2000, request from CS for split up to do installment. They said they cannot do it unless the shop where u purchase they provide the installment otherwise u have to pay full amount. shocking.gif

Now clever d, ask got EPP or not then only swipe big amount. Or else charge interest like crazy rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Early Settlement of Maybank EzyPay (0% Installment)
- Faxed request letter : 3 May 2011 (1pm)
- Full settlement amount appeared on M2U : 5 May 2011

Very efficient when Maybank wants to collect debt from you....
Will cancel the CC once the payment is settled next month ;-)

Looking through the discussions, I was wondering, what's the different between getting a 12-month 0% installment plan with just credit the amount and pay the minimum amount every month?

Option 1 : 12-month 0% Installment has no interest if you pay the monthly figure

Option 2 : Pay the minimum will attract CC interest (up to 17.5% p.a.), for the unpaid amount --- NEVER DO THIS

Product cost : RM12,000

Option 1 : RM1000 per month
Option 2 : RM600 for the first 5% minimum, RM11,400 attracts CC interest

Looks like this thread becoming 'how does easy payment scheme work'.. Hahah..

Anyway, I'm wondering why they wanna charge if pay early IF the interest is already paid in advance.. Like CIMB's plan(nt sure bout others), they charge the % upfront, then the remaining months u just pay price of item÷total months.

So remaining months they don't earn interest right? s

I think what fly126 means is that upon the due date of your next statement, you have to settle the minimum payment amount of (5% of the balance) + (all the amount in excess of your credit limit).

In addition, the bank may charge an overlimit fee. I'm not too sure about the amount though.

I think what fly126 means is that upon the due date of your next statement, you have to settle the minimum payment amount of (5% of the balance) + (all the amount in excess of your credit limit).

In addition, the bank may charge an overlimit fee. I'm not too sure about the amount though.

I had swipe over limit for my Maybank 2 AMEX card 1 year ago and no charges imposed. You just cannot swipe. The card will be able to swipe again immediately after I made partial payment via Maybank2U so that total outstanding amount is below my credit limit.

I also called Maybank Customer Service and they informed me that no charges for over limit. But that is 1 year ago. Not sure whether is there any changes in terms and conditions now.

Pardon me for bringing up an old topic.

but I still don't quite get what was mentioned here, about the available credit. Will I still have my monthly available credit minus the instalment amount?

Easier question, if my credit limit is $6k, will I be able to purchase an item of $10k (under easy pay)?

thanks.

NO... Your Total Purchase Amount Can Not Excess more than Your Credit Limit although under Installment Plan... nod.gif

Hello all sifus.

Just want to ask something regarding maybank Credit Card monthly installment.

Ok here is the scenario,

Let say my credit limit is RM4000 and i still owe around RM3000. Can i still use my credit card for monthly installment?

And is it depends on the available credit limit that i have which is RM1000 and the price of the product that i want to purchase?

Just needed to check with some gurus here.

For Maybank EZPay, say i swipe for RM2700++, and under a 24 months EPP 0% interest plan , which means roughly RM118 a month.

Would this RM2700 be recorded into my bank statement and become an outstanding amount? Or is the outstanding only considered RM118 a month for the next 24 months?

Reason im asking this is because im applying for a bank loan and the agent just told me that im good for the loan but barely just made it so within the next 1-2 months try not to use the credit card for more then RM1000 otherwise i might fail the loan as they are still processing.

The thing is, i just made a swipe for the EPP without knowing this.

Would anyone be able to enlighten me? I checked with the agent, he said it shouldn't be registered since they only look at outstanding amount.

Want to ask. For EPP, early settlement means we need to ask them right?
I swiped 4k using EPP, and i put back another 4 k into the card ( got refunded by something else). Is this considered as early settlement or not? I did not call the bank to cancel my EPP.

My past experience, do not submit your credit limit increase application with Maybank2u. You can email to their customer service department and ask for credit limit increase.
