City is reliable. You don't need monthly maintenance cost. For me, cost incurred is only for servicing every 8 to 9 months at about RM200.

That's good to hear, thanks !

Year 2009 onwards, City don't use power steering oil. It now runs on electronic power steering assisted by motor.

Whoops, thanks for that - I just bought a second hand car and learning about the maintenance. Previously used very old 20 plus year cars. blush.gif

Hey guys,
I wanted to use a dashcam in my car but found that the cigarette lighter which provides the power is not working.

Has anyone here had the same problem ?
If yes I'd like to know how you guys resolved it.

Could be a blown fuse which caused the cigarette lighter / accessories socket port to stop working.

Sometimes, it can also be the USB hub which converts to the acc socket that isn't working.
*
Yeah I found these videos on how to replace the fuse, seems simple enough.

Wondering if anyone here has tried it before:

Hey guys,
My 100k mileage service is due and I'm looking for recommendations for a trustworthy workshop near Old Klang Road or around 15km from there. Any recommendations please?

For 100k service, you will only need change these few items:

1) Engine oil and oil filter;
2) Iridium spark plugs;
3) Serpentine belt;

The below is my recommended added parts to change:
1) ATF oil and its external filter;
2) Clean throttle body;
3) Clean MAF sensor.

I used to have a reliable mechanic at OKR but he retired after met with an accident. This old man prefer you buy the parts and he will charge labour only.

I suggest you better travel a bit further to get these items replaced at VMAG Motorsports. He always works on Honda City and it is easy peasy job for him to service / replace parts on your City.
*
Thank you so much for the recommendation. Yes I did look up the 100k scope, but before this was I going to SC and IIRC they said the 100k scope will cost about RM 1k lol.

If u do it outside, my estimate is that it will xost you around ~700 for the items I quoted above.. Price varies on the type of engine oil you use.

The spark plugs already cost around rm250.. serpentine belt around rm100.
*
Thanks, yes I recently found out about the spark plug cost biggrin.gif

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ Sep 29 2021, 11:42 AM)
1) Engine oil and oil filter;
i think you know the price
2) Iridium spark plugs;
i bought rm200 NGK iridium spark plug from lazada donkey years ago, may not be best option (if there is fake) but i used for years so should be ok.)
labour shouldn't be that expensive, should be same with labor of changing engine oil or around there.
3) Serpentine belt;
i bought bando brand from local parts shop when i don't know yet to get parts from honda genuine stockist. its rm35, again run for years, so far so good. might be better you get genuine one
should be same with labor of changing engine oil or around there.
The below is my recommended added parts to change:
1) ATF oil and its external filter; oil rm22 per bottle, you need 3, external filter is rm85 2 years ago, both from honda genuine parts store.(this one better find honda specialist, i ask my neighbourhood workshop about atf filter, they dunno what i talk about lol)
2) Clean throttle body; labor rm140 about 2 years ago (this one better find honda specialist)
3) Clean MAF sensor. buy MAF sensor cleaner clean yourself, totally worth it. either get liqui moly (https://shopee.com.my/Liqui-Moly-Air-Flow-Sensor-Cleaner-Car-Care-(200ml)-4066-i.39369127.1189526249?position=9) or CRC (https://shopee.com.my/CRC-Mass-Air-Flow-Sensor-Cleaner-Spray-11-Wt-oz-05110-i.312896830.8618561815?position=8)
i got my liqui moly for rm25, i have no idea why it was so cheap at that time, I've been eyeing it for some time.

Wow thanks so much for the detailed input, I’ve got some reading to do on this. Appreciate it.

Can share some pics what to look for?

After changing recently to excel g and adding thicker rear damper, it feels nice to drive around.most importantly rear doesn't sag down like before
*
Hi, could you share approximate cost for rear damper replacement please?

Hi all,
I notice a whistling sound coming from outside the car (suspect it’s the roof area) when I’m driving above ~90 km/h usually on highways. Checked and didn’t notice anything missing or loose. This is a new sound and I’ve not noticed it before.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Not even sure what to look for really🤔

The whistle sound is a known issue on this car.. It is usually caused by the windscreen rubber molding which resonates sound when going at highspeed.

My also will have if I go around 110 - 120kmh.... Usually the radio will muffle the wind noise.
*
Ok thanks for sharing, i guess I just didn’t notice it before because lately I have been driving without audio on.

Front: MICHELIN ENERGY XM2+ (1 year old, ~ 10k KM)
Rear: Continental CC6 (4 years old, ~35k km)

You should not mix tyres with different thread pattern. It is not so safe in the wets as different thread pattern will have a different water dispersion rate.

Suggest change back into xm2+ For the rear one

I believe that is a bluetooth enabled scan tool..

There are devices that allows a bluetooth module be plug into the car's OBD2 port.. then it will communicate with the phone via it's app to show all data logged and sent from the ECU to the phone app.

Not my primary car anymore. Got few car ady. btw, this city almost perfect. Just one things I quite annoyed with it. Super sluggish response/power delivery. I think u all for sure experience it. If press accelerator, rpm really hard to climb. Maybe they engineer, set up gm2 gearbox like that.

If u use multiple car from different brand. Then u know what I trying to said. Its not regards to fast or slow, but its regards to terrible power delivery.

Got any solution on this?. or just live with it..
*
This is my primary car, and recently I got to use another car loaned from a family member while sending my city for paint touch up for about a week.
The other car was a Preve (non-Turbo version). Trust me, compared to that car, the city feels like a formula 1 car lol.
I guess I'm fortunate that my comparison makes my current car feel good laugh.gif

dammit. took out my washable engine filter and forgot to install it back. drove out today to neighbouring area within 10km radius to run some errand, basically without any filter.

come back, off car, then realize.  ohmy.gif  mega_shok.gif  shocking.gif  cry.gif  bye.gif  doh.gif

Air filter? Would it be a big impact, since you didn't go a big distance?
There's risk of particulates in the combustion chamber I guess hmm.gif

Today I just replaced all 4 shock absorbers back to Showa...

Previously was using KYB Excel G and the feel is like riding a horse.

Now, the ride is much softer and comfortable.
*
Thanks can please share how to decide when to change the absorbers?
Some people say only change if theres a sound lol

Also any other parts that are recommended to change at the same time?

My car mileage is 120k now.
