Maybe you can try adding advancedsettings.xml to your kodi. Paste below code into .txt file first. Upon saving it, save as advancedsettings.xmlCODE
<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode> 1 </buffermode>
<readbufferfactor> 2 </readbufferfactor>
<cachemembuffersize> 157286400 </cachemembuffersize>
</network>
</advancedsettings>
I encountered same issue with you. After I add this advancedsettings.xml file to folder "Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/" last night, the issue has gone for now. Before this, the box can't even play 1080p video at all and keep receiving "cache is full etc etc etc". I only managed to test two 1080p movie last night and it works great.
Make sure you have ES file explorer and enable hidden folder as the ".kodi/userdata/" folder in "Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/" is hidden.
I only use WiFi to though. I hope that's help
I refer to below article to set my advancedsettings.xml
