QUOTE(voncrane @ Oct 23 2015, 10:30 AM) Setting zero cache is strongly ill-advised and I'm not a fan of using SD cards to cache content. Better use my 16GB internal storage. It will be years before the internal storage faces any read or write issues and by then, most of us would have moved on to a better box. So no worries there. I manually set cache size to around 200MB-ish & it's proven sufficient. Remember that the higher the cache size you set, KODI will need around 3 times that as RAM. So make sure your box also has sufficient RAM as well to avoid issues. I have 1GB RAM box. What's the max cache I can set? That is after considering the amount of RAM to run android and Kodi. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2GB RAM box. I read that AmLogic s812 M8S is quite good. Any users that can comment on this box?

QUOTE(voncrane @ Nov 2 2015, 04:48 PM) IMHO, If you can upgrade to a 2GB RAM equipped box, do so. Then you can increase the cache size should you run into buffering issues that shouldn't normally occur. About the M8s Amlogic S812 box, guess you've gotten real user feedback on it. I've read about how amazing the Minix Neo X8-H plus but it is a bit too much for me budget wise and usage. I've read that you said any box under RM300 are not good. But the X8 is based on AmLogic S812 too. But the M8s is half the price of X8. So, what makes X8 better than M8S hardware wise?

Has anyone experience buffering using VIP10 lately? Is upgrading to Advance 30 will fix this?

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Nov 19 2015, 02:27 PM) i use asus, rm200 (now maybe rm250 due to weak rm). excellent for ethernet and wifi. forget the unifi stock router which is ok for basic use, small space. no. unifi 30 will not do more in kodi. kodi buffering is usually due to geoblocks, bad links or unsupported chipset. vip10 has enough speed for everything if single user. higher speed is necessary if u have multi users at any one time. incl torrenting. but, since unifi30 now is same price as old vip10, might as well change unless u need the upload speed. That's what I'm thinking right now. Might as well upgrade. I don't mind the upload speed as I only do download and streaming only. Hardly use cloud and I think 5mb is enough. But while I'm using Kodi, I have 2 other devices streaming youtube videos. Might be good to upgrade right. Nothing to lose I think.
