Just started toying with xmbc.
I am on maxis fiber 10mbps. But i spend lots of time waiting for content loading, and sometime buffering. And couldnt get HD content even though it said so. Same experience when playing with Netflix last time. Couldnt get HD content.

I maxis fiber throttling even for streaming? I know they throttle torrent, but streaming via xmbc?

Need a straight answer coz couldnt find anywhere else.

Thanks.

long term,you never get good streaming from maxis fiber even though it is 10 mbps

hello Guys,

I just purchased Rpi2 B with 1GB RAM (the latest one). I have configured (openElec) and it's up and running. My concern here is the RAM, I only see 700MB and not 1GB is this normal?

Can anyone please advice what can I do?

I also need some help in tweaking the KODI - Resolution, Date/time (always out), mouse pointer is big and cannot scroll and others then you can help out.

Greatly appreciate for your help.

cheers
Raj

Thanks Chief  wink.gif The repo "OpenElec Config" is it GUI based OR I need to use SSH/SAMBA to configure it?

Do you have the link to where to download this config?

Greetings folks,

can anyone here recommend what USB WLAN adapter suitable and working for OpenElec/KODI Rpi2? Planning to purchase one since running cable between the Rpi2 and router is an messy setup now.

Thanks and appreciate for your feedback.

cheers

Another option.I am using edimax EW-7811Un.Works on Raspbian and OpenELEC.My personal opinion,if you are into uninterrupted live streaming.Forget wifi!

it's stated in the above guide, you need to create the .xml file if it's not there. I did the same  wink.gif

Hi sifu, how to do minimize stuttering and buffering issues on my RPI 2 with Openelec?

I try to follow below steps but I can not find advanced setting.xml file in my RPI 2...

From http://www.htpcbeginner.com/raspberry-pi-openelec-tweaks/
7. Minimize Stuttering and Buffering Issues

XBMC 13 Gotham with improvements to address buffering issues on Raspberry Pi. In my opinion this is also one of the must do Raspberry Pi OpenELEC tweaks. This basically involves creating or editing the advancedsettings.xml file to add the code below.

<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode> <!-- Comment: Default is 1 -->
<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize> <!-- Comment: Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB -->
<readbufferfactor>4.0</readbufferfactor> <!-- Comment: Default is 1.0 -->
</network>
</advancedsettings>
This OpenELEC Raspberry Pi tweak configures video caching mechanism during playback. Since this might increase the writes to the SD card, having a reliable high-speed SD card is strongly recommended.

Thanks LeiHuan for responding
I use VIP 5 Mbps
Sorry, I don't know what is Ip? Kindly explain, appreciate it
I use erthenet ( wired, i think)

Wired is good.Not the fancy wireless for live streaming.
To check ip,use the following apps if-
pc-
http://www.speedtest.net/
android phone/tablet-
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...m.iptools&hl=en
and check which ip work better for you.
you can change the ip address each time you off the modem for 20sec.
Look for the 1st 3 front number.for a start do not take the one starting with 175.very bad.
remember Telexxx ip changes every hours or day,(dynamic ip)
there is trick to capture a good ip and maintain it for weeks and month.
cannot disclose here.big brother may be reading.

Hi,
Can you please guide which one is a better choice to build OPENELEC media player to watch 1080p movies, either Intel Celeron N2820/N2830 process or new Intel Atom processor i.e. Z3735F or how these 2 compare with RPI-2? Which one would you suggest? Use is purely watching online contents from Genesis etc or watching 1080p movies from local disk attached via USB.

this is only personal view.I also have a Pipo X7,Intel Z3736F with Window 8.1.Bought it for around USD100 when launched.It is inside my cupboard collecting dust.useless for Kodi.

I had tried to add this advanced setting.XML file into userdata with following setting.
<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode> <!-- Comment: Default is 1 -->
<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize> <!-- Comment: Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB -->
<readbufferfactor>4.0</readbufferfactor> <!-- Comment: Default is 1.0 -->
</network>
</advancedsettings>

It becomes worst than before....so now I change the setting to
this

<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode> <!-- Comment: Default is 1 -->
<cachemembuffersize>20971520</cachemembuffersize> <!-- Comment: Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB -->
<readbufferfactor>4.0</readbufferfactor> <!-- Comment: Default is 1.0 -->
</network>
</advancedsettings>

Much better but buffering still happen once in a while

Mostly from iptv stalker

Some movies from phoenix

I only used Pi and Minix X7 for Live stream(Kodi) on news i.e cnn,bloomberg,BBC News and etc.
The other pi,Volumio with hifiberry dac+ for music stream or flac playback
For Movie,tv series and docu, use custom built-low power ITX(RM600-650-one time)
with Seedbox,VPN(65 Monthly) and private tracker for downloading.
Playback with Minix X8
Cut cable tv(RM146-RM65=save RM81)
What does this tell you.
