well... u need to understand the architecture of kodi.

.. the reason for the 1000 or 10,000 addons there is becos u had many repos installed and zips extracted (or somebody else did it). so, u either get rid of those repos/zips not needed or start all over and install only the relevant ones that u want. the naked KODI app has less than 100 addons. but it is a challenge to know which addon is in which repo! so, u need to do some googling, watch youtube videos. that way, u avoid unwanted repos and zips.

.. every repo u install has several zips, each with a ton of addons. they are ready but are NOT enabled until u activate them. they do NOT take up space until u enable them.

.. do not get confused - when u want to enable an addon or (program) u got to settings/addons - the whole list is shown for u to enable or disable. during normal viewing, u go to video/my addons - this list show only the ones u enabled.

.. u can do shortcuts for a limited no. of addons under skin settings. you can set favorites for certain channels within an addon. how to do that depends on yr device - can be right mouse click or some button (like "menu") on yr remote to bring up the menu.

in summary... KODI is not the easiest app for any new user. need time, patience, googling, youtube to grasp the principles. once u get it, it is the same for all addons, plugins and builds. later, u can start to try to tweak video/audio options, do yr own advanced settings and xml's, do backups, quick reinstall with last saved copy of org.xbmc.kodi, etc. spend time, try, try, try... takes everyone a while to get it.

finally, KODI is not for grandpas and grandmas.

this kind of problem exist in all devices, incl smart tv's.

likely due to buffering issues, esp for hd videos of certain links.

try other links in phoenix and other sources.

please check and inform, can try... tq.

can you share...

.. what % scaler u set?
.. libstagefright on or off?
.. mediacodec on or off?

what device u using?

i had played it for some time...libstagefright, mediacodec - both on, both off, one on other off, switch places. i can't find an answer as to which one is best becos one setting works good for a while, then fails. one setting works good for this channel, but not the other...!

by default, both are turned on.

can anyone who knows this issue kindly share experience and comments?

googling gets u "try this, try that", no firm answers.

there is no problem.

for experimenting a couple of things, i just installed clean on a device.

jarvis 16.0 + cypherrepo, extract the right cypher zip and f4mtester.

my experience for kodi is, open or auto, dynamic or static dns does not make a difference.

stream not smooth, buffering... i have played with hardware acceleration settings and advanced settings for a long time. they work to an extent but not for all streams. the easiest ones are the on demand movies. the most difficult ones are the 1080p live sports streams.

i spent an hr last night at it again, tweaking many combinations for advanced settings - buffersize, bufferfactor, timeout. and once again, i failed to find a good combination that gives acceptable buffering. you can't watch a live game when it pauses every minute or so!

i remember using kodi on a pc and yes, it works better all round. i had always thought the generic android is the worst performer for kodi among all devices incl pc, htpc, appletv, rpi, etc. anyone who has managed to get a good setting to stream skysports 1-5/f1 hd and aztrosupersports 1-4 hd reliably on an android box, hope u can share.

meanwhile, i keep searching for reliable streams in hd for coming eurocup. last worldcup, i relied on china streams which are a lot more stable in hd but with commentary in mandarin.

after spending another hr or so, i had some success with live sports streams in hd!

not with settings but found some reliable streams.

i do not know where this adrian super tv is found... which repo and where to get the plugin.

i only know it is inside superbox build.

skysports 1-5, f1 are reliable in 720/1080.

they are much more stable than those found in project cypher.

others vary - some are stable, some are not. aztro, nbcsn are not stable.


a backup will be sports365 in phoenix sports/vc - very stable but in 576 only.

so, enjoy while they last!

aren't those three still screening in the cinemas?

even if they exist, it will be "cinema-cam" videos.

kodi have a few chinese addons incl azdrama, kissasian but they offer mostly old stuff.

u have better chance finding them with other apps when they become available.

many asked me how to do this for live sports. yes, at this time, superbox build with adrian super tv give skysports 1-5/f1 in HD, smooth usually.

... use kodi 16.0 jarvis.
... the build need about 1.2gb, so be sure u have that amount of memory available; if not, everything will hang.
... get the zip in post #3788 on pc, put in usb.
... install the zip the usual way via settings.( if u don't how how, google and watch some youtube videos on how kodi works.)
... a few minutes of download and extraction of files.
... when finished, it will ask u to close - do NOT do that. switch off yr device, i.e. cut the power - this is to force the changes.
... restart, u will see a new skin.
... this build has a lot of good stuff - incl adrian super tv, phoenix, azdrama, kissasian, etc.
... all yr previous addons u have in there will be found in "all addons".

i hv never started any thread in lyn, intent to keep it that way.

i think it is built for use with a remote (buttons). not touch screen.

even a mouse cannot do all the remote can.

My cypher shortcut is dead.

Good news is Adrian supertv still works good.

i spent time to explore and clean up superboxbuild. happy with it now, but it's just my taste...

superbox build has a lot of stuff, incl cypher, adrian, bbts, phoenix, exodus +++.

see, i don't really care about sd streams, so i spent time checking the HD ones (720, 1080, 4k).

failed to get 4k stuff (mucky ducks and dna4k did not work).

but... good news... several addons give stable HD videos on demand.

in superbox, check out the following addons, they have HD contents that work:

.. world HD
.. watch 1080p
.. 123movies
.. titan
.. xmovies8

ya, 1channel, dailyflix, yify are "obsolete".

i now have those addons + adrian super tv (for skysports HD) + phoenix, + exodus + BBTS... more than enough HD streams for VOD and IPTV.

only thing i need to check is why superbox restricts audio to AAC since there is nothing i can get in DD or DTS in this build.

yes, superbox build is huge.

there seems to be little about adrian supertv addon. i tried to find, nothing.

so, the best u can do is to uninstall all the addons u dun want that are enabled in the build.

quite a lot of them... i uninstalled many, left with just 20 or so.

still, the org.xbmc.kodi folder is 1.12gb.

there's another fabulous addon i found - for concert videos - live concerts hd.


summary... i am satisfied with these 10 addons in superbox build:

.. exodus - tv shows in hd
.. phoenix - mixed
.. bbts - news channels
.. adrian supertv - skysports hd
.. live concerts hd -
.. world HD - movies in hd incl foreign languages, incl very old
.. watch 1080p - movies in 1080p
.. 123movies - mixed hd
.. titan - mixed hd, movies, anime, kids
.. xmovies8 - mixed hd

video on demand... i actually don't use much on kodi.

use more for live tv, hd channels only.

i have actually tried them one way or another - xbmctorrent, kmediatorrent, pulsar, quasar, rarbg viewer, etc.

they all work the same way - torrenting the packets in the right sequence, playback as soon as the buffer reaches a sufficient level.

so far, i believe:

.. this method works good on pc/htpc.
.. it does not work well on androids because if the path is set to the sdcard, it'll take up 3, 5, 8gb in no time (yr system may crash); it does not work if the path is set to ext hdd - something to do with usb i/o speed or transfer protocol restrictions. the same thing is seen in popcorntime which works on the same principle.
.. quasar is designed to work on androids where pulsar doesn't. still, i failed to get it working properly on my android. anyone who has successfully done that on android with path set to ext hdd, please share!
.. still, i managed to view a couple of 720p and 1080p videos on my box that way - they are actually the same files as when u do utorrent incl dd/dts audio; only that the playback somehow isn't as smooth, a little jerky.

i will try again but at this time, i still prefer to do the torrents the conventional way, esp when it is 15gb or 35gb.

Some great sharing about Quasar on a Sunday morning!

I spent another hour or so this morning and now find:

.. Quasar does work on an android.
.. One thing easy to miss is to set the remote control other networks ON under services.
.. It works both on paths set to either sdcard or USB HDD.
.. Path set to sdcard guys a smoother playback, but mind the memory usage.
.. Can pick yr own fav providers, set filters to say, just 1080p.
.. If set to pass thru, can get dd and dts audio.
.. Sufficient broadband speed required to stream properly, esp HD; 30mbps can get up to 3MBps, average say 1MBps... so it can handle a 3gb 1080p 1hr video; will probably be ok for most hdrips but it will probably need >200mbps to stream a full bdmv.
.. Above using superbox build.

Kodi enthusiasts, do try Quasar!
