any positive and negative comments after your gaming session with the keyboard?

i think saitek eclipse is the cheapest among those, which is below RM150 if i am not mistaken. Unless you want those unknown brand cheapo keyboards, the durability/usability are to be questioned.

btw, speaking of G15, mine sometimes will have stuck key feel. hmmm...QC of "gaming" grade nowadays.

silver painting? those will come off? i seldom touch the silver paintings. LOL...yeah, both of us got problems. hmm...damn, their QC sure sucks.
my G15 WASD keys are quite loose. hahaha...too much FPS. maybe you could try to wrap the silver thingy with carbon fibre stickers. It looks good from what i see in G15mods.

on the key painting issues, i think the later batches which has the hard coated plastic around the keyboard (old versions have the rubberish feel around the frame, the palm rest, and the back of LCD) including the palm rest, all smooth hard plastics has no paint fading issue on the keys, so i heard. mine is rubberish and sexy...sob sob*...

last time i used to have stuck keys even on newly bought Rm35 logitech easy deluxe or something. now it seems the G15 sometimes also gives me this. hmmm...i wonder if it is software related.

stuck keys are like eg. you move WASD in FPS games, while u stopped pressing strafing to right (D key), you charater still walks to the right as if the D key was still pressed.

tarantula macros easy to reach? you must be kidding...or you are playing your games with both the hands on the keyboard, instead of one on the mouse. the tarantula has 2 sides of macros consisting 5 keys per side. the right side one, you left hand need to travel whole keyboard distance to reach the other 5 macros on the right. and it doesn't sounds easy to me, while playing games with one hand on keyboard, another on the mouse.

the fact is, the G15 has 18 macro keys times 3 profiles. meaning it gives you 54 macros combo on the left of your keyboard. and that is much much easier to reach.


My summary after considering the 3 (before i get my G15):
- Saitek Eclipse II for the price (cheaper among the 3) and lights color changing (you need that?). Plain good ol' keyboard with lightnings.

- G15 for the functions and LCD and whachamacallit...bang for the buck. the cons: HUGE!

- Tarantula for the Razer gimmicks and more gimmicks. hyper response not required on keyboard plus the antighosting, some tests show that it only supports 8 keys. good design (apart from macro on the right), but not value for money.

ellimist: not sure bout saitek keyboard price now. last time i checked (i was really interested in it last time) it was RM210+ or 220.

SihamZhai: oh, you only using 5 macros. then the tarantula is fine for you. G15 wasnt my type too at first. i hated the design. but after considering the functions, and price, and what i get in the end, i choose g15. lol...luckily it looks better in actual than in the pics.

maybe you could try to mod it (cover the silver area), use the carbon fibre sticker in the bulk. i have seen those foreigners do it. quite nice lo...i am thinking of doing it too. but too many screws to take out.

if you dont need key lightnings (tarantula has lights for macros only i think) and macros, yeah, why not. tarantula is a nice one.

ianho, littlelinnet: was just gonna ask if you guys are not using the palm rest, which caused ur hands to rub against the silver part. i seldom touch the silver part as most of the time, my hands are on the palm rest.

dualshock: ur tarantula no good meh? G11 i think suppose to be the same as G15. only minus the LCD. i think the keyboard is good and comfortable to type on. i personally find the LCD very useful to people like me.

z3r0717...did u see the post previous dunno how many pages regarding the G15 faded one? posted by me with reference to other ppl's pic. i think we malaysia G15 on the list one 99% first batch. not sure who got the later batches. cos there's no more rubbery stuff. all hard plastics. a lil cheapo look if compare the 2. LOL...


dualshock: aah...now reading ur post, i feel lucky for not getting tarantula. that adds another positive point to logitech, because they do RMA for wear and tear as long as it is still within warranty period.

anyways, i think u can try to use nail polish coating to protect the other keys? or use white marker to re-draw ur A key.

because o2jam is not a famous game for hardcore gamers. and serious gamer like me won't even think of touching it. tell me, how many games like o2jam which needs 8 keys simultaneous compared to FPS, RTS, RPG and racing games??? and G15 is not built for anti ghosting. tarantula said it has 10 anti ghosting keys, but some tests in china or taiwan found it only supports 6-8 (cant remember the accurate number). so just get samsung if u plan to play only o2jam for your life.

refer to my post #701 on page 36 please. read the part with the links on "Key fading" issue. read till the end of the logitech forum, then there are 2 image links for old and new batch of G15. it is not about laser cut, samurai cut or parang cut. it is the built. If yours has rubbery surface on the LCD cover, the whole G15 frame and palm rest, u are 99.78% on FIRST batch!

If yours has hard plastic feel (cheaper look IMHO), there's nothing feels like "Rubber", then most probably you got the improved , no fading batch. i wouldnt say second batch though.

not really sure. mine was 600+ near to the said "updated" batch...but mine is still rubbery. hahah...so i think that's not the batch number. wat bout yours?

that microsoft keyboard looks like laptop keyboard. sure uncomfortable for games. LOL...but nice design tho.

most keyboards cant get usb 2.0 is because it was only supplied with usb 2.0 single port (for g15's case, a single usb2.0 input, it has backlights, two usb 1.1 outputs). unless someone manufactured a double usb input for the keyboard, then it might be able to supply usb2.0. because usb2.0 devices takes up more power compared to 1.1.

valho, wat's ur budget? i would advise u to take on G15 if u have the extra cash. i think g11 is around Rm200+ if not mistaken.

not actually few more la...its nearly RM100. lol...
