yes yes yes...we are all on 1st batch!

TomatomanzSeedlezz. As long as it looks rubbery (u can actually touch the keyboard if u are planning to get one from the shop). If anything like that second pic, which u can see, it is like plastic...hard plastic. then it MIGHT be the improved batch.

None of us have faded keys yet (i guess). Only some suffers silver painting (around the keyboard) fading. mine has a slight sight of it too. I have been using this keyboard excessively for CSS, quake 4, and any other games for more than 5 months. No fading sympthoms detected, altho there's slight light leak on my F keys and some G keys i believe those are manufacturing defects (minor ones). Maybe those who encountered fading really fast, was those with acidic sweat. laugh.gif I wouldnt say our keys wont fade in the future tho.

But given that logitech covers warranty for paint fading issue, there's not much to worry. Cos as you can see, there's other so called gaming keyboards fade too. Exclude the tarantula as its major keys are not back-lighted, hence, no need for transparent keys. Which leads to 100% no fading (maybe fonts/words fade...hahaha...instead of the keys).

regarding the silver paint fading stuff, i wonder if i send it for RMA if it goes too heavy, or i will wrap it with CF stickers...cos it looked damn cool with it.

i would RMA here at my place locally. Cos i bought it here (kuching, sarawak). haha...i wonder if they need to send confirmation to KL.

i think i would RMA it if sitll within warranty...then if it goes of out of warranty, then i will wrap it with CF stickers. hehe...there's a guide how to take ur G15 apart in G15forums.com

your budget range of "cheap"?

try g15. it is good and quite cheap (value for money) with those LCD and functions.

nice and honest review maDmaN. for me, just dont like the design. plus razer's weird button placement on their KBs.
btw, what's the on the fly sens for the KB? what's the function?

samhun: if u have the dough, i recommend you to get G15. you can read my small review linked on the first page of this thread. and you can refer to maDmaN's reclusa review too.

disclaimer:
I do not recommend you a product because I owned it. I read tons of other reviews before actually getting mine for the functions/built per price paid.
The final choice however, is always yours.

keyboard slider is always uncomfortable. lol...well, at least from those that i've seen. I recommend? G15. yeah, tons of complains and such. but so far, I find logitech support much better and havent heard of any major issues on the G15 other than the color thingy.

same goes for other products, they will have loads of complains. Head over to razerblueprints.net or microsoft hardware forums, you will know what i mean. hehe...laugh.gif

btw, list updated. laugh.gif thumbup.gif

i guess either smaller or same. because G15 has a bunch of macros on the left.

i've touched the reclusa in lowyat CELgame thingy ground floor. Feels a lil cheapo plastic. hmm...din touch tarantula tho. but my friend bought one without listening to my advice ("poison" tongue.gif) to get G15 instead. hehehe...

not sure bout the tarantula typing feels but reviews said it feels like typing on a notebook style/slim keyboard. i dont think you need anti ghosting in typing unless you wanna make some words holding down more than 6 keys together. laugh.gif

I just found out I cannot use my Logitech G15 to access BIOS, have to use back my old PS2 keyboard.

sigh.
*
you need to enable USB keyboard & mouse thingy in your mobo bios.
use your old ps2 to enable that first, then you can use your G15 already.

QUOTE(blacktrix @ Jul 28 2007, 10:49 PM)
Ooooooooh. +1 for the G15 for me already.

Can the lights be configured via a macro?
*
not sure if the light can be configured via macro as i think light on/off/dim switch is just, well, an on/off button.
Why you need to macro that? since you already have a dedicated on/off light button.
anyways, maybe there's some G15 plugins you could find to enable that. I've even seen ppl using plugins to make the lights blinking with your music rythm. cool stuff... laugh.gif

QUOTE(derred @ Jul 13 2007, 04:50 AM)
thanx for the info. So what is about the color thingy? I thot new model dont have that. Im thinking g15 for now. Tarantula sucks with no backlight. I know about the Prototype but white doesnt fit my workstation plus i bet it doesnt have backlight. And i dont think it docks iPhone unless iPhone is using the same port as nano or iPod video. In fact, slider wont let i dock anything.

so SpikeTwo or anyone else, what do u guys suggest? I would like both bias and non-bias comment. It is not wrong to comment based on own experience or belief but i do appreciate non-bias comments as everything, i mean everything has pro and cons. Just which pros and cons fit more in our life or lifestyle. peace.
*
yeah, i guess the new batch should have fixed the color fading problems. at least, for heavy FPS gamer like me, my WASD colors are still intact.so far, the only cons i could think of about the keyboard after using more than 8 months, is the size. but it din bother me much cos of my big-enough table. laugh.gif i will still suggest a G15 not because i am using one. (hey, i rephrase that quite a number of times. hehe...)

QUOTE(nles @ Jul 18 2007, 04:24 AM)
If only there's G15 without macro keys. Dun play online games dun think so I'll need them.
*
i also dun use much macros for my FPS games (i think i would need them in Hellgate:London rclxm9.gif ), but i do use them in windows. you could virtually macro most of the stuff in windows environment. i macro the keys to open applications. say, one key for notepad, one for calculator, one for winamp...blabla...all your most used appliactions in one touch! you could even macro the keys to be used for formating your work in application like MS Word (copy, paste, bold, font size...bla bla...). It's just depends on how creative you are and where you apply them.

ps: sorry for keep editing my post. Long time din check this thread. was busy working.

sniper69: logitech G15 has all the clicky you want. LOL...just like those classic logitech easy keyboard with "spring" feel to it.

tarantula will be more to slim type a.k.a. notebook style which i dont like in both gaming and typing. laugh.gif

z350z: after one line i already give up reading. dont know wtf u typing. but at least you made a wise choice choosing G15. cool2.gif
[edit] plus, G15 has total of 54 macros not 45. laugh.gif

yeah...i also like the new G15 facelift. and it costs USD99.99 (300+?? near 400. shocking.gif). same price as the new G9 mouse tho. laugh.gif wonder if they eliminated the paint issue all together this time.

OOT a lil: Speaking of razer, i only like their mouse. but due to the double clicking issues and QC problems, i am dissapointed. and logitech doesn't have a nice "finger" control mouse...but that will soon be changed. with the lauching of new G9 together with the new G15, logitech will have an uber finger control mouse!!! drool.gif check it out in the mouse thread.

z305z dont be so harsh la...haha...later start a flame war.

different ppl different taste/preference. for me, I think the saitek is just too expensive. if Rm100+ ok la...the eclipse II was around RM200+ last time. for nothing but just the lights...albeit solid built, it is still too expensive.

lol...very childish remark from z350z. noob sound...i laugh my arse off.
stop the nuisance and be constructive or at least some ideas on your hardware. dont start a flame war. and btw, logitech G15 does give "tak tak" typing sound, or what you called, noob sound. I see you having G15 too. so it means? laugh.gif funny kid.

anyways, let's get back to our beloved gaming keyboards.
so, anyone decided which keyboards they will get? for those who wanted to get the G15, it's a good chance, because the old G15 might slash price to make way for the new one. just a specualtion, like the case of G5, the dealer price dropped around 30 or more for new magma blue G5 launch last time.

i dont wipe my G15. i only use squeeze type blower. just squeeze squeeze here and there to blow the dust off. laugh.gif

i seldom use G keys in FPSs. not needed kua. i might need to use them in bioshock or hellgate. you know, those RPG with tons of spells...

saitek lights can be turned off i think. esp the saitek eclipse II. was really interested in this keyboard last time. but after further read outs and compared with the likes of G15, it doesnt worth the money.

i think because the output of this keyboard is only USB 1.1 so some thumbdrive might not work or not operating in full usb 2.0 speed.
