when i am applying the admission to nus, after i click confirm, it shows this "Please correct the following errors to proceed:
Duplicated High School Subjects subjects. (Academic Qualifications section)" Does that mean i put two same subjects in STPM category, but i check ad , the subjects i put are physics, pa, chemistry and math t. Anyone can help me?
*
Please do not key in PA in the list, there is a specific column right after the list for PA.
For PA, due to the change in new system, key in PA1 and PA2 grade as '0' and overall grade as usual.

may someone explain to me about the main differences between double degree program in engineering and economics and DDP in engineering and business administration (accountancy) ?
*
In term of structure, both courses are the same, thus I guess you are asking about the difference between economics and business administration.

Economics focuses on understanding and analysis of economies and their constituent components.

BBA (Acc) focuses on real-estate law, real-estate valuation, project control, and rhetoric (business administration related modules) together with accountancy program.

what if i wish to pursue engineering and business administration or engineering and economic?
according to http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/faqs/ddp-c...-faq.html#ddp01, this two double degree courses is offered for direct admission right? But in the application form, there are only five double degree choices which are
Business Administration & Law
Business Administration (Accountancy) & Law
Economics and Law
Law and Master in Public Policy
Law and Life Sciences
*
There are two ways to get into DDP
1) Direct admission, however, please reminded that you have to maintain your CAP above 4.3 in order to continue your DDP, else you will have to abandon the second degree and continue your study as single degree. Application is usually available after you have secured one of your admission (business or engineering)
2) Application after 2 semester. In 2nd semester, you will receive email about application of DDP from your faculty and you will need to take a few module required for the second degree beforehand in order to be considered for DDP. Similarly, CAP is also important in your application

Wanna ask regarding submission of documents.

I've got an email that states

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Does this mean I have to scan my document, print it out to write my details on the top right corner, and scan it again? Or is this only meant for submissions via post?
*
I did that when I mail it last year. For online submissions, I don't think it is necessary to do so.

Before uploading the file:

Prepare all your required documents for uploading
Scan your required documents into JPEG format, 100dpi and Black & White version (For more information on how convert paper document into electronic file, please refer to Notes)
Reduce your files to the smallest possible size. (For more information on how to reduce file size, please refer to Notes)
Name each files in the following naming convention: <Application No>_<Full Name>_<Type> (E.g. 81XXXXX_John Keller_High School Transcripts)
why need black and white version????
*
To reduce the file size...you will find that it is not that easy to meet the file size requirement

Hey people, I have a question regarding the Singapore Scholarship.

About the part that has be endorsed by Government/school, because I did A-level instead of STPM, so I cannot possibly get any Government school to endorse the application for me right?

So how can I find someone to endorse for me?

P/s : I don't think college can endorse the form for me, cause on the form, it stated only can be nominated by government agencies/department.
*
Maybe you can try to look for your secondary school principal, principal can represent MOE to endorse

For the section 10 of the sg scholarship which stated must be completed by government, can we just give to school to stamped and signed?
*
You can look for your school principal to do the endorsement.

i think that's on the extreme low side...

hardly use more than $5/month? you nvr go out and explore sg during your weekends? mrt 1 trip at least $1, stepping in a cab around $4 already... how can you spend <$5?

telephone bills, that means you're on prepaid? i thought at least $30/month is needed to keep your line active?
*
$18 is enough to keep your line active for 180 days!!!

For the travelling fees, it really depends on your habit, some people prefer to just stay on campus instead of going out here and there

Hey anyone from FASS, can I ask this silly question which is whether Economics in NUS is a 3years or 4years programme? I couldn't find the info on the website, because I know NTU's Economics is a 4years programme, not sure about NUS.

I just received the offer pack from NUS, which contains all the accommodation, medical check-up, tuition fee, loans etc. info. There are like so many things to do!

So I actually have so many questions and doubts to ask now. I know this is still early, but I just want to sort out things as soon as possible, please bear with me!

Regarding the accommodation, how do you all choose which hall to stay? Based on what criteria, like proximity, facilities etc.? I am also aware that there is this so called 'Residential College', does anyone have experience on this and mind to elaborate more?

As for medical checkup, we have to do it here or in the university health center in NUS?

Then which is the part of tuition fees. I saw in the booklet, it said that the application for 'Tuition Grant' is from '19 to 25 August 2014' for international students, so does that mean that we can only apply the grant after we come to NUS? But for the Tuition Fee Loan, the deadline for international students is 25 July 2014, do we have to go down to Singapore before the class starts to get the loan?

Sorry for raising so many questions, despite after reading the freshmen booklet, I just hope if there is someone who actually had the experience can explain to me in a more explicit way. sad.gif

1) How many years is NUS economics programme?
A Bachelor Degree of Art is usually just 3 years, the additional one more year is for honours.
http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/prospective/undergrad/faq.html#one

2) Criteria in choosing accommodation.
I would personally split it into 3 criteria:
a) Price
There are three kinds of accommodations on campus for NUS which are hall, residence and residential college.

Hall provides single room at a weekly price of $110 and also double room which cost $75 per week. There is also meal plan provided by hall covering breakfast and dinner during weekdays, breakfast of saturday and dinner of sunday. The price is about $2 per meal and it is compulsory for hall residents.

For residence, the only one available for freshmen is Prince George's Park (PGP). It offers 3 types of rooms, type A,B and C. Type A is the most expensive one with weekly rental of $200 and comes with air-conditioner as well as attached bathroom. Type B's weekly rental is $120 and comes with basins while type C is similar to the single room of hall with weekly rental of $110. There is no meal plan for residence but PGP has two canteens whereby you can have a meal about $3 to $4.

For residential college, the weekly rental ranges from $120 to $145. Meal plan is also compulsory for residential college whereby the price is about twice of hall's meal plan. The detail list is available at
http://nus.edu.sg/osa/has/undergraduate/hostel-rates

b) Location
First of all, transport around campus is rather convenient so location does not matter that much. However, if you insist on choosing the one that is close to your faculty, i would recommend eusoff hall or temasek hall which is just opposite of FASS.

c) Activities/Programmes
Residence does not provide any activities on its own, so students who stay there usually join other CCAs in campus or else you can just stay there without any CCA involvement.

Unlike residence, halls in NUS is well known for their hall CCA. Although it is not compulsory for hall residents to join them, it is necessary to join quite a number of hall CCA to get enough hall points to continue their stay in halls. The competition varies from year to year and different for each hall. Those with insufficient points will not be able to stay in hall for the next academic year.

Residential College also have its own CCA although it is not as vibrant as hall (at least in term of quantity). On top of that, you will be required to complete certain multidisciplinary modules under the residential college programme (UTCP or USP). These modules are considered part of degree programmes.

3) Medical checkup
You can do it in Malaysia or UHC depending which one is more convenient for you.

4) Tuition grant and Tuition fee loan
Yes, tuition fee loan application comes before tuition grant although tuition grant is required for tuition fee loan. You should come to Singapore earlier for your tuition fee loan application at the bank branches. You can come to Singapore before the term start for your Qualifying English Test (unless you are exempted from it) and also join some orientation camps (It is nice to know some friends before the term starts). You can do your tuition fee loan application during that time. Tuition grant application period is similar as last year.

I think that's all I can answer. Feel free to ask if you want more detailed explanation.

Is the QET test compulsory? What is the purpose of QET test anyway? If we don't get a certain threshold mark for the test, will the offer be revoked?  shocking.gif

Anyway, so the medical checkup I can do it after getting into uni?
*
QET is taken to test your current english level. Students will be given band 1 to 3 based on their performance (band 1 is the worst and band 3 is the best)
It is compulsory for students without any of the following qualification: http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/event/registration-qet.html
Based on your result, band 1 students required to take two additional 0 MC modules, band 2 students required to take one additional 0 MC module and band 3 students don't have to take any.
The exam itself is an academic essay writing.

Poor performance in QET will not revoke your offer.

The medical checkup is necessary for admission and should be done before the term starts, or more precise before the registration, the deadline should be mentioned in your admission package

Did any Malaysian ever manage to get into Pharmacy course at NUS?

Really hope that I can study Pharmacy at Singapore after STPM...
*
We do have a few pharmacy students in NUS from Malaysia (from A-levels, SAM, UEC as well as STPM).
However, pharmacy is one of the more competent course to get admission in NUS, so it is not going to be easy to get the admission.

Oh ok..

But I got my Diploma in Nursing from Malaysia, is it ok?? unsure.gif

I think they just accept diploma from Singapore polytechnics directly. For your case, it will be most likely on a case by case basics. You can always write an email to the department if your qualifications are not within the list.
