I do not have good experience with this brand of surge protector way back during Streamyx time. The RJ11 (Phoneline) socket are completely useless to block surge.
Not sure about the electrical 3-pin point socket though, but then again usually if your house has a good fuse then it would be safe as the surge already been blocked right at the main fuse.
p/s: I had the 4-Way (Home Series) ones, not sure about Gold Series though.

a good fuse does NOT block power surge / lightning power surge . A lightning arrestor or a SPD at DB box does . a fuse is to block overload current . ie a 13 A will blow out if more than 13 A flow thru .
the power surge on phoneline/land line is strong . that s why you had issues.

BUT .... for surge protection this can not help. the trip protection is SLOW . the lightning surge will already zap your TV in 1 mSec . they use mechanical switch which trip SLOW ya.
