If they could give us Android 4.5 and Sense 6 it'll be great. M8 is not much of an upgrade, especially due to the lack of OIS. That really makes the camera crap. sad.gif

Really...? Really? REALLY?

How about blaming the user for crappy photography skills instead of the camera all the time? No doubt, the M8's camera could be better. But how about people improve their photography skills for a change instead?

I can bet the majority of people won't even get good shots if there's a DSLR class sensor on the M8.

Who's gonna blame what at that time then?

What I'm trying to say here is that it's quite saddening for them to omit a key feature in M7, which was indeed a good selling point. I do agree with you that we all need to brush up on photography skills. Sadly enough for HTC, they needed to provide more & more to grab sales from other big giants such as Samsung. General populace will take a 13MP or 20MP shooter over the ultrapixel, and that's not helping HTC especially when there's no more OIS. Perhaps the dual camera setup may fancy some.
*
Fair point. OIS is indeed helpful espeically when it comes to video recording.
I don't however buy the excuse from HTC saying OIS is not possible on the M8 due to the dual camera setup. It's more likely to ommit it on purpose due to complexities instead, since the OmniVision 4688 sensor on the M8 isn't particularly good with hardware based OIS in the first place.

Fun fact; the M8 uses the OV2722 sensor as its front facing camera which coincidentally is the same sensor used on the rear camera on the M7. Go figure. laugh.gif

Do you even know what a 64-bit CPU does? Or are you one of those who's been duped into marketing?

Is clearly labelled as S/N : HTxxxxxxxx just below the IMEI number

Example :
Your code can be HT32WWxxxxx
the format is like HT[year][month][day].

HT - Hsinchu, Taiwan where the HTC One is manufactured.
3 - 2013 (year)
2 - February (2nd month)
W - 28 ( as W is the 28 the character- refer following list and Z is the 31st day)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z

that means the phone was manufactured on 28th February,2013 in Hsinchu of Taiwan.

Just ask seller for the first 3 digits after HT/or SH and you will know the manufacturing date
Apparently Nov n after batch is free from this problem

Not true.

I know someone who got an M7 in December, purple tint issue regardless. After fixing, green tint ensues.
So yeah, Omni Vision sensors are just hopeless.

Maybe he buy it in december, but is an old batch phone.

Perhaps. He never told me the serial number, so I can't say for sure.
But after fixing it with a replacement of the camera sensor, he's having green tint issues now. Makes no difference.
