When i select zoe in low light the camera preview suddenly becomes dark, when deselect zoe goes back to normal performance in low light. Anyone experiencing same issues?

I don't remember whether this happened before I sent my phone in to get the purple camera issue fixed, or whether it is a 4.4.2 issue updating from 4.3 so just want to get some confirmation from anyone here.

Anyway, for additional info the service center replaced my camera module with OV4688 from omnivision...so far 1 month in using the camera everything works great in low light.

Hi guys, this is a vendor related question. 2 weeks into usage just found out my unit has the infamous purple tint issue. Software is 4.4.2. I have went to and called HTC CS but they asked me to refer to the shop instead.

I bought it from di*ec*d and have phoned their hotline stating that i got a unit with known issue and if it is possible for replacement. Got a generic answer.

Wanted to check with users if anyone had experience replacing a unit with di*ec*d.

Just call up HTC and reference them your IMEI number and your details...if it is a legitimate purchase of a legitimate unit (which will be reflected in their records) they will process it as usual.

Try checking which camera sensor they replaced for you. Instructions on link below, must have ES File Explorer installed.

If I'm not mistaken it should be the OV4668, if you get Sharp then all the better.

just played around the camera settings.

setting the exposure to +0.5 seems to offset the green tint problem..
any users here willing to try and let me know if it works

Green tint is a white balance things, no need to increase exposure, just move the camera around and focus on other things/colours it will go away by itself.

yeah but if u wanna take a picture of a particular thing, the camera will auto-focus back at that thing and the greenish thing comes back eventhou u move ur camera away

hmm...for my camera after it corrects itself the problem wont come back again until i close camera app and open it up again.

It has been 2 weeks since I last sent my device to HTC for warranty. And after numerous calls, my device is still in "Diagnosis" status even though I have told them specifically it is the purple tint issue!  mad.gif This is totally unacceptable and by far the worst CS I have encountered! Would think twice and thrice before buying HTC in the future!

I waited 1 month for mine...since It's the only service center in Malaysia, plus the purple tint issue is very extensive. So kindly do have patience. Getting angry over this really would not help solve anything. For your information htc will never publicly admit the purple camera defect is a hardware defect. In fact, in my repair details, it didn't even mention changing the camera module, it just said customer complained of camera tinting and testing discovered no issues. But they definitely changed my camera module when I checked it in es file Explorer.

but it does solved the issues, right? some forummers commented that it will come back again!  doh.gif  Hope not... as my set is still in the service center!  mad.gif

Been using mine for 2 months so far no issues, and I have purposefully made my device hot to test for the issue but so far it's working great. For those that experience recurrence of the purple tinting they most probably got the same faulty camera module with badly designed heat shielding, but those cases are mostly from mid last year up till October and I suspect due to supply issues for the good camera modules.

For info both times I sent mine to SC (pick up service since I'm in Kota Kinabalu) repair time took 1 month... First repair was getting camera module replaced. Second repair was due to defective microphone (lower mic static).

In summary, for realistic repair time, expect 1 month...unlike Samsung or Apple with authorised service center in most major cities, HTC only has one in the entire country. Not blaming them on this since they exclusively make handphones, can't really compete financially with electronics giant like Samsung or Apple or Sony. In fact, try asking Samsung users about warranty claim, I'm very sure they have their own nightmares as well.... When I told my colleague that htc provide free pick service for repair he was impressed, other brands don't do that.
