Watch the episode again, Nilokeras did turn into a black mass when the system was activated, and then an additional layer of optical camouflage is applied on it. If not, its real weakness (armor not protected by the barrier) will stick out like a sore thumb

i dunno abt you but wont the optical camo also get absorbed?

It's applied just outside the barrier...so that's why whenever someone hit nilokeras, you can actually see the camo got slightly distorted.

IMO Nikokeras' barrier and subsequent exploiting of its weakness is one of the best thought out fights I have seen. I have more issues with the rocket punch one...the rocket punch's density turned weaker and can be destroyed if it tried to do some action such as grabbing etc. That's kinda stupid and I wish they sorta stick with shooting its thruster to keep them down.

But I think the body turning into a huge rocket punch itself was hilariously awesome though
