Hi all;
I need some advice in choosing the right mattress to rectify my back pain. About my posture;

tall guy: > 190cm
posture: abit slouching to the front and abit to the right.
size: moderate to big size
(will grow wider in the future due to intensive body building)
type of bed: queen size (tried sleeping on a super single bed at Harvey Norman but end up falling down on to the floor when turning over) ~ SERIOUS !

Currently, i am being advised by the sales assistant at Harvey Norman that i should try sleeping on a firm bed to reduce my back pain. He keeps pushing me the Hilker Gomez. I tried it and felt it is ok.

Hence, do you guys have any advice? Also, how about the brand Tempur? is it good for posture/ reduce back pain?

In addition, do you guys know where i can read up concerning mattress? I know this may come across as a dumb question - but i need to research the right mattress to stop my back pain problem from deteriorating further.

Go IKEA, they have a computer that measure your sleeping posture and give you compensating suggestion.

actually an all natural rubber mattress will be the best, firm and support. not the pocket spring type.
http://thenaturalsleepstore.com/natural-la...mattresses.html

there is a type that is made from coconut fiber as well
http://www.fibrestar.com.my/index.php?opti...id=1&Itemid=189

try these ... you need firm mattress to straighten your back ... may hurt the first few month

Hi,
This is Mike - Malaysian guy living in London. Mattress plays a very important factor in back pains, and I had that long ago until I changed my mattress to the Tempur memory foam mattress… that was in 2003. I have the same mattress still and I do miss it when I travel. So I highly recommend that mattress.

We have a holiday home in KL (Pavilion) and I am changing the mattress to Tempur there. I realised 2 things
1. The mattress in KL is about 2 to 3 times the price of the mattress here in London.
2. The mattress size in Malaysia and Singapore is 190cm long (your height) and the mattress here in the UK is 200cm long. Google it and you will see.

So I am tempted to buy the beds here in London and have it shipped to KL.

I tried all the brands at harvey norman and narrowed my selection to tempur, serta (mid range highest spec), king koil residency. King koil residency because my wife used to have one previously.

In the end I opted for the king koil residency as it is less than half the price of the tempur and serta while still providing the necessary comfort and support. I recommend you check it out. If price is not a factor then serta would have been the winner.

Brands like dunlop, slumber land are not sold in the UK.

The size of beds in the UK is longer by 10cm - as the people here are taller I guess compared to the average Malaysian. But for best guide on prices and what us available in the UK do visit http://www.johnlewis.com

I recommend the sofa section. Its aimed at the middle income folks here in the UK. Also the furniture from what I understand are hand made in the UK.

Yup, for mattress. I agree. it is better to go to those fair or large furniture shop to try various brand of mattress. Once you decided a few particular model that suits you best with your budget then only hunt for best price around the area...

I would recommend dreamland freshguard chiromax, using spring miracoil, which is designated specially to support our back.
