anyone tried it??

from the screenshots..it still looks like what you see on phone built-in browsers.

exactly what advantages do i have by using opera mini if it looks the same?? or i could say...opera mini = html to wap design lookalike

u dont really hv to worry about security. cause it bypasses opera's server bfr thy send it to you. its jus a more consice detail page of wat u see on yr comp. so no worries there..

hmm i'll try soon, but does it actually load up more bytes comparing to phone software? i think so..since its html.

but i don't believe it supports javascript/flash

just try it out and u will love it.. the best part are it will reduce the size of the data transferred and fit nicely to the small screen of the phone..

it will not load up with more bytes, but will load up with fewer bytes as opera server scram the html to smaller size/packet...

its actually not much a browser, but a client to access the opera server, the opera server is the one which actually fetches ur page

its work great on my 6680

one more thing - got another w700i which is similiar to w800, i only need to fetch the settings from maxis only rite, then save, can get gprs liao rite, but mine not working la, any advice?

I'm not using Opera Mini but Opera S60. Not sure what's the difference, but Opera S60 is much smoother than the phone's built-in browser, and menus are accessible by 1 key which makes it faster to navigate around (example, 1 for Go To, 2 for bookmarks, 8 for settings, 0 for zoom, etc). The only disadvantage is that I haven't found out how export my bookmarks.

I'm using the mini here.IIANM it loads less bytes compared to the phone software (not too sure bout this)

And as others have said,u gotta try it out urself, kinda hard to tell u why it's better.A function I personally like is the disabling of pictures,so I can save money by not loading big darn pictures tongue.gif

OperaMini the best

New version able to save page and read offline...useful for those long article or political blog..smile.gif

For me, normally I will just surf using my house wifi (my phone came with wifi feature), save the pages I want ...and read later.

For those who dun have unlimited data package line....dont bother using it, coz each page will be around 50kb or more . which is around 50 sen per page. (Based on Maxi$ 10kb =10 sen rate) Is not a cheap way to surf!!!

I'm using prepaid and when I'm on low credit, I just have to disable the graphics. Go to Menu > Tools > Settings and then unchecked "Load images". Each page will only display text and its content is smaller, maybe 2kb perhaps. thumbup.gif

It's definitely better than the browser included in S60 3rd, at least to me. I use Opera Mini when I want to view the website as a whole, the S60 browser when I want to view the website in its mobile form.

try to download old version like op 3.0, it load less data. If you want to save money just unclick the load image option in setting. In that way each page would only be 2 to 5 kb ( 2 to 5 cents ) Use it since version 1.0 way back few years ago. Now no more unlimited plan, so use less.

Much lower quality in fact. Images look pretty distorted on Opera Mini.

The mobile mode is when it's zoomed out? Where there is a rectangle for you to navigate like a full website? I'm not sure but it seems that it's not possible to do the same on Opera Mobile. I use Opera Mobile for viewing websites with pictures and Opera Mini for fast browsing.

Is there any browser that can view flash like YouTube video? I just don't like using another app just to watch videos.

if the internet bandwidth is fast enough, then we do not need opera mini, and can just utilize the built in browser.

Using opera mini 4 to post now. Am impressed with the new one, the last time i used the processing time was not this fast.. Now is superb.

But i noticed one thing, gif animated pictures are stationary now. Maybe this is to reduce loading times.

connecting part should be when the wifi is trying to connect to the wireless modem.. may be due to wireless strength not strong enuf, normally if having problems in the connecting part, it will pop up a list of wifi choices for u to choose.

mine also sometimes it takes quite long at 1st to connect to 1st page.. after that after 2-3 mins of surfing, then the connecting part becomes immediate, and processing part is the slower part.
