It's not good for my heart but I will take it even if I have to go to hospital right after Liverpool win, hopefully the 19th!

While many fear superior opponents, it has been proven that the boys are excellent in their concentration on those games. They tend to take it easy on lesser opponents which is a cause for alarm. This is perhaps a good time to introduce a few young chaps to take over the lesser opponents at least they are hungry all the time.

And yes, Joe Allen can play a big part in those games too.

Every match is a cup final for us. If we can do that, we are smelling the Cup closer to our noses each day

This season has been a wild rollercoaster and credits to Rodgers and the team, it made us believe again. However, I still remain that we're far from being a title contender and realistically, we will finish the season at 3rd/4th place.

Just to show you why I still refuse to put us into that top bracket, I did a bit of spreadsheet (Got a bit of time tonight) on our upcoming games:

First, I categorized our 11 upcoming games into 3 levels of difficulties:


Level 1 being matches where we are expected to win. There are only 3 I can identify - Sunderland (H), Newcastle (H) and Norwich (A). Sunderland is havin a revival with Gus Poyet but with them being in both cup competitions, we should see them off easily. Ditto Norwich. As for Newcastle, it's the final match of the season and they should having nothing much to play for.

Level 2 are matches we should win but could be potential bananas - Southampton (A), Cardiff (A), West Ham (A), Crystal Palace (A). Liverpool's home form is as good as anybody in the league but we don't travel well. Couple with the fact that these teams are relegation contenders (And Southampton, the only team who walked away with 3 points from Anfield) you got yourself a tricky scenario. Then again, we've beaten these teams at Anfield (4-1,3-1,3-1) comfortably. If we can show some solidarity in defence and midfield, we should be able to win these games.

Level 3 are the trickiest. Basically 50-50 matches. I know, I know... Why is United there? Now remember our abysmal 09/10 season? We still managed to beat them 2-0 at Anfield. When it comes to United-Liverpool rivalries, form goes out of the window. The only positive note I could take from these fixtures is that we will be facing the other 3 teams at Anfield. I'm sure the crowd will be up for it and the team will turn up a notch in performance level. Those are the games to look forward to.

It's generally agreed that with 73 points we should be able to secure the 4th spot. To do that, we only need to win 5/11 games and draw at least 2. It would help our case if the Level 3 game we win is against Spurs.

Although I believe the result could be easily achived, it only means a 45% win percentage. Hardly an exciting league finale and a drop from our to-date league form. Not something we would really 'dream' of, no?

One thing's for sure though, the 4th spot is ours to lose.

Now, let's look at something more exciting:


Somebody mentioned earlier that 83/84 points is probably enough to win the league this season. That means we could only drop a maximum of 5 points (Mathematically, 89pts is the max currently) and need to record a win percentage of 80% (9 wins out of 11).

It's difficult, if not nearing impossible.

First of all, we need to win ALL of the level 1 games and probably ALL of the level 2 ones. In fact, we need to beat BOTH City and Chelsea to leapfrog them as well as pray that Arsenal drop more points than us (Actually, they will. I'm sure). It's a cumulation of ruthlessness, solidarity, mentality and luck that would see us lifting the eluded trophy. I like to believe that we have all 4 factors with us but with last week's 4-3 thriller, nothing short of a miracle is needed to be contenders.

Truth is, we'll probably end up somewhere in between both spots above. 76 or 77 points and we may even finish 3rd if we're lucky. To me, that will cap off a great season under Rodgers, especially considering I was only asking that we be 4th contenders this season. Sure, we can dream but let's not elevate expecatations to unachieveable levels. In Rodgers words, we're only a foal amongst the big horses.

March won't be easy. In fact, how we perform this month will largely determine what we will be fighting for come April/May. We start off the month with a tricky visit to Southampton. If we could pull this through with 3 points, we will have 2 weeks of time to sort out our defensive issues and drive a winning momentum into April. Or will we?
