Gray Market=No Warranty and No Repair.
If you purchase a gray market import, you won't get any Nikon warranty.
The only warranty that will be honored is any that the retailer provides
(B&H, for example, provides their own one-year warranty on gray market imports).
Moreover, outside of warranty, the product will (usually*)
still not be repaired by Nikon M'sia-you'd have to find a third party repair shop to fix it once the warranty expired.

Nikon M'sia Import=Warranty.
If you purchase an officially imported product, you get a warranty that your Nikon M'sia honors.
Moreover, once out of warranty, Nikon M'sia will repair the equipment (and charge you for the cost of repairs).

Instead of buying a new grey camera, better buy 2nd hand.
No warranty also, but more cheaper...
Bought A700 and 1DMK2 before from ebay...
Serves me well before sell with the same price I bought it...

If you're quoting Nikon USA, yes, they are against grey products (bodies and lenses) and would not repair or even touch a grey product even if you paid them. But then again, US people suually buy their stuff cheaper and Nikon gives them 5 years warranty ! nod.gif

I think for Nikon Malaysia (and perhaps Singapore & Thailand), they will certainly not honour a grey DSLR body warranty. But they will repair them so long as you are willing to pay.

However note that for lenses, Nikon provides 1 year international warranty and if you buy your Nikon lenses from, HK, Japan or even US, just show warranty card and the receipt for proof of purchase for Nikon Malaysia to honor the international warranty should it be required.
