brake pad > steel braided lines.

I think is brake pad biggrin.gif

I did some digging and saw that some say that SB lines help, and some say that it is just placebo.but most of them say it improves the braking feel.it especially helps for inspira/lancer as the brakes do feel a bit mushy.

Then i saw this video

It shows that the braking distance is shorter after changing to SB lines.i also think the test is legit as they made 3 runs for each of the steel braided and rubber lines.plus supercircuit is a reputable brand.

Now here is my question, how can the braking distance be shorter when the surface of the pad, rotors and the caliper strength are the same??? hmm.gif

Any sifu @nzh0920 @K3nnYkl82 wanna shed some light??

Thx man for fixing the link.Damn from 9.5 meter to 5.4 meter.Reduced braking distance almost 40%.quite impressive for a rm5xx mod.

Me no money to do whole system change, wanna do bit by bit blush.gif

yeah for simply replace the hose can shorted 4 meters, unbelievable , not sure true or not laugh.gif

Considering also bro.But although brake pad is cheaper,it does come with 3 problems.
1)Squeeking noise when braking.
2)Excessive brake dust.
3)Shortend rotor lifespan.

Still researching to avoid any of these problems and my list of candidate for pads are EBC green stuff,Bendix metal king titanium and Ferodo blush.gif

Also, another reason not to change is because my car is just 5000km ODO and i think the stock Akebano brake pad is still in good shape.

pads will ultimately help more, though that really depends on what pads you're getting and considering akebono being damn expensive and decent, it's not that easy to upgrade it unless you're willing to fork out a lot more money and/or forego nvh/increased brake dust.

may refer to my previous post again as to why some say it doesn't help and some say it does.
you can also use the water hose analogy on water (brake fluid) pressure, notice steel braided are slimmer - technically speaking, the test with the preve merely mean the brakes are applied quicker as the brake fluid pressure is higher.

the biggest advantage of steel braided is that it'll remain that way until you cook your braking system beyond it's intended threshold (eg: 600-800 celsius, more than what the steel braided can sustain and eventually gets expanded slightly as well) of the system.
rubber hoses obviously expands at a quicker rate and having much lower threshold, and even regardless of that, as it ages it'll expand overtime very slowly as well.

(hindsight on me/ Vyraz 's end that we did not take comparison photos between our brake hoses prior to cable tying them.)

the test is a bit biased since at such low speed/distance, everything else are not taken into consideration (tires, car weight/momentum, even to an extent suspension)

imagine water being brake fluid, if you squeeze the hose it's gonna travel faster and in a way you started braking earlier.

put the car on the track though and braking at maybe 160+, like sepang's first corner from straights, too sharp braking may result your car spinning out if your tires can't take it laugh.gif

you clearly never tried EBC greens (or even reds) laugh.gif

you can probably ignore bendix (especially metal king as it's going to rape your rotors with the hard/metallic pad material)/ferodo considering your above 3 criterias.

are still damn healthy (maybe 60-80% left) on Vyraz second hand car at 90k km, so unless you brake like a madman, you're probably going to be using it for a very long time laugh.gif
rm450/set of fronts, i guess you get what you "paid" for lol.

I know.i also thought that steel braided wont make a difference until i used it hard repeatedly and reached the threshold.but i tried the steel braided on my friend neo,and i can assure you that it made a lot of difference on brake feel.

However i thought it was only the feel and it did not shorted the braking distance.but now i saw the video i'm even more convinced.

Considering that the stock akebano pads are good and mine is still in good shape it's unlikely i will change the pads, but i will agree that EBC green have been getting good review.even the Kakimotor boss uses it on his CRZ.however i have not tested any of the other brake pad on my inspira??which one have you tested??

Any input from anyone who have changed their brake pad?? notworthy.gif

Btw Quazacolt, how much is your milage bro??since you gotten your car around the same as me smile.gif
