starhill is doing badly... lot10 is worst, nobody enter it except for H&M
*
As far as I know, YTL REIT currently owns neither Starhill nor Lot 10.

B prepare to pay 6% GST fr 1/4/2015 onwards if u buy Reits
http://gst.customs.gov.my/en/rg/SiteAssets...ober%202013.pdf

Reading that, it doesn't seem true. Services performed by the REIT management company will be subject to GST, and GST will be charged on top of transaction fees for buying and selling as per other stocks, but the trading of REIT stocks on the market itself is explicitly exempt from GST. As far as I can tell, this is exactly as per one would expect.

Read item 33
*
QUOTE
33. An investor is entitled to receive income distributions from the REITs invested.
The income distribution in the form of dividend is not subject to GST. When the REIT
units are traded in Bursa Malaysia, the buying and selling of REIT units is also an
exempt supply and is not subject to GST. However, any brokerage commission or
clearing fee on the buying and selling of the REITs is subject to GST at a standard
rate. The investor is not entitled to claim the GST incurred on the buying and selling
of the REITs since it is an exempt supply.
Huh? Brokerage commission and clearing fees, i.e. transaction fees are subject to GST. Neither income distributions nor the traded value of REIT units are subject to GST.

I don't think that is true. I think it should apply to all brokerage charges / trustee fees / clearance fees for all stock purchases. Note the following in the FAQ:

QUOTE
Q4: For managing portfolio investments I have to pay brokerage
commissions to the brokers I trade with. What is the GST treatment on
brokerage commissions?
A4: Brokerage commissions are services supplied to your clients and are subject
to GST at a standard rate. You can collect from your clients the brokerage
commissions and the GST incurred as reimbursements.

I sold 80% of my REIT on the recent drop on REIT to prevent capital loss. If I wanted to enter again and re-structure my portfolio, what would u guys advice if I looking for dividend yield? I had very diversified portfolio previously and even sold TWREIT in profit.

According to MREIT data, YTLreit provide highest yield. Is it wise if I put heavily on that?
*
Personally I don't like YTLREIT even though I hold it too. Their management team is unreliable and their switch from a mall-based REIT to a hospitality-based REIT is too recent to judge properly.

IGBREIT seems to be remarkably consistent about staying at the 1.18 - 1.19 level.

Seems a bit late for that, since they have all mostly recovered from last year. Should have bought when low.

Market hates its corporate exercises. There are too many of them, they take too long to implement and they are confusing.

All of my REITs seem surprisingly strong these past couple of weeks, especially given the interest rate cut.

UOAREIT keeps going up too. At what point should I forget about the dividend and just sell it?
