It's popcorn time: http://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/co...u_have_visited/http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1y1...u_have_visited/ Games like Dota2, TF2 and all competitive multiplayer games will have VAC. Which means Steam is pretty much NSAing a lot of Steam users out there. This post has been edited by pikachu01: Feb 17 2014, 10:41 PM

QUOTE(luna121245 @ Feb 17 2014, 10:44 PM) Can't really get what VAC mean, and what is the effect? VAC stands for Valve Anti-Cheat. It's a watchdog that looks through your processes to look for rootkits/hacks that helps you cheat in competitive multiplayer games. They've gone one step ahead by parsing your DNS entries (you query a DNS every time you enter a new website). So if you enter www.omgwtfbbqp0rnofmylifechicksetc.com, Valve will pretty much know about it.

QUOTE(luna121245 @ Feb 17 2014, 10:56 PM) Got it now, if I doesn't go for any website during game then any data of mine will send to them? No, DNS entries stay stored in your OS for around a day (varies). If you're running a VAC-enabled game during that day, it'll upload all the entries (hashed though) to Valve's servers to be examined.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Feb 17 2014, 10:46 PM) I hope people just don't ignore this since it's Valve.. What if this was EA... it would mean the end of the world. If it's EA, I think a few notable YouTube celebrities would've made videos and petitions will be up at that very moment itself. A few days later you would have drama/popcorn time like how it is with Totalbiscuit and his ever growing dev "friends".

VAC is only activated when you play a VAC-enabled game. You can see the list of games here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valve_Anti-CheatThis post has been edited by pikachu01: Feb 17 2014, 11:02 PM

Well then, that whatever we browse they can see it? Hmmm, welp can't say I'm disturbed. Just the other week met some hacker sniper in TF2. The one that shoot through anything and get headshots. So all's well that end well.
