Correct.. or rather.. more effective method is snip, clean the nubs, sand.. then prime and paint before assembling.. assembling and taking apart to paint will send u to masking hell

Best practice is always to spray part by part as almost everything will be the same color and save u A LOT of masking and time.. u are free to do whichever method u wish, though like i said.. part by part is best because u can just spray parts with similar color in one go without worrying too much about separation

i feel you are just repeating your question and i'm repeating my answer.. it is absolutely fine either way, but if u want to spray an entire hand, for example, u need to mask and spray one color, leave it to dry, then remove the tape, and mask again to spray another color.. it is extremely tedious so spray one all of the parts with the same color first is better..
honestly this is just logical, in terms of saving work and time.. i don't know why you keep asking whether or not to spray assembled parts.. this is NOT the best way for a beginner at all
maybe you need to try it for yourself then you'll understand

Regarding painting, my method is not to snapfit first then look at what color to put on each part.

for me, i read the manual, look at the parts on the runner, then decide what type of color to put on (masking option as well, if applicable).
Then the normal procedure of remove parts from runner, sanding, etc

then do the painting and coating. Final step, assemble it.
