I'm trying to gain mass. 47kg 170cm right now. Goal is 60kg. To make my gain easier, i've decided to drink 1-2 cups of protein a day. Yes i know lean solid meat protein would be a better option but i don't have the appetite to swallow that much food in a day and also i don't have much time to prepare them.

I'm targeting around 2,000 calories a day to start off for now.

So back to the point, should i go with whey 100% (only 120 calories / serving) or mass gainer like BSN true mass (420 calories / serving '2scoops').

Will mass gainer increase my bodyfat with a large margin compared to whey? Since my point is gaining lean mass it's kinda confusing should i go with whey or mass gainer for the big calories gain. *apart from calories i also need the protein surplus from it.

Not for me dude. I can have a decent 400 calories meal and don't feel like eating for the next 8 hours. Been eating 1 or 2 meals a day for a pretty long time.

Anyway, lets not discuss about substituting real food i know it's better but i'm only into the option of choosing between whey/mass gainer.

You have the same height for me and i'm currently around 68kg. I used to weight about 60 and below. You know why? Because it's FOODS. Eat solid foods and more foods. Don't go with weight gainer or whey. Eat 5 times a day.

it's hard to really gain only lean mass from mass gainer due to the amount of sugar and low grade carb in there. it's almost like drinking milo with extra sugar but with slightly more protein. u get what i mean?

Because you're used to eating little your body adapts. Try eating abit more than the previous day and build from there.

Ah would love to just eat solid food but my stomach/appetite wouldn't allow. So thought of just supplementing a 5 seperate meals a day + a shake a day.

I get what you mean. So whey would be a better option of protein source compared to mass gainers?

Trying now! Find it so hard thats why i thought of adding a shake a day to supplement my diet. Easier to gulp down 420 calories liquid than eating a bowl of rice + meat though.

honestly, if you have no financial constraint, i would just recommend you to eat all the things you like to eat like nasi lemak, kfc, economy rice, etc

as long as it has significant amount of protein in it (meat, eggs, taufu etc), you are better off than relying on shakes.

the bad thing about supplement for ppl like you is you WILL depend on it and without realising you will treat it as food replacement. if that happens, you will go back to square one, not gaining much weight.

i'm speaking from experience. once u drink that shake, u wont have the appetite to eat no more.

Force the food in if you can't get hungry for the next 8 hours. Sounds like your problem is the appetite, and the only way to fix that is to stuff yourself during the proper timing, expand your stomach and soon you'll be hungry when you need to be.

One scoop whey has around 125 calories. Add some oats into the shake. Eat some other thing like 2 slices of bread, a piece of fruit, 2pcs egg, etc...

Much much easier to gulp compare to mass gainer.
