You can always resume the story quest later when you reach High Rank.
Some monsters might be tough to handle and you need better gears.

Tetsucabra Armor is the best for starter.

Btw, any suggest for bow starter armor? I am aiming for gore magala set now.. at least the stat is better than other so far... most importantly it look damn cool X3

sigh...this gore magala rage mode quite difficult to fight...first time play...then got fainted ...

using grim cat switch axe now..will retry again

when he rage mode, use pitfall trap or shock trap to trap him then quickly
hit his horn so he will revert back to normal mode.

^This. Plus, you get them feelers too if you break them

is it just knock the head enough?

Or, you could just mount him and when he's knocked over, spam attacks right at his face. Enough damage on his head gets him out of his frenzied state.

Also use the weapon which he is weak against. There are so many weakness for Gore Magala.

erm.... is this http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Grim_Cat_%28MH4U%29 ...have paralysis function....but consider as strong againt gore magala?

I'd say go in with the weapon you most comfortable with. But, I did use HH and hammers on him solo and back at LS (which i prefer) in online mode, gotta cut them tails
