am very tempted to get the ROG G501JW to replace my work laptop. Will go for the 2nd spec, 1tb +128gb ssd and full hd monitor.

Anyone know what's the battery type for this spec? asus website shows 4 cell and 6 cell but doesn't specifically say it's for which model.

You sure about it? ROG are way too expensive if compare with others with similar spec. It is not worth it. Get the clevo barebone from illegear (z5, Q5) or cyberforge (sm-15) and you will not regret it. And pls bear in mind that the after sales service for asus in malaysia is shakehead.gif . I owned ROG laptop before and tons of problem came out after 1-1.5 year of usage...curently using barebone from clevo and there is no quality issue at all. icon_rolleyes.gif

If y50 is your definite choice then you should upgrade the display. It's original display/screen sucks.

looking for something powerful and in small thin form factor lo. G501 is around 2kg.. and it's not as thick as some other gaming pc.

using this not so much for gaming but need a fast proc & dedicated gpu for work. plus have to pull out laptop on the road. Ideally macbook air is the best but my software cannot run on ios...

You might consider Alienware 13 (updated version) is 2kg but only with 13" screen, it is using 5th generation cpu but the down side is dual core (i5-5200u). Same 960m gpu. Of course it is few hundreds cheaper. But if u need larger screen, then u just take what u think u need....
