Pengambilan pelajar

Buat permulaan, seramai 149 pelajar diambil dan 20 kakitangan.

MRSM Bitara Pengkalan Chepa merupakan salah satu daripada 6 maktab bitara di Malaysia, selain MRSM Langkawi, MRSM Taiping, MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba, MRSM Kuantan dan MRSM Pontian. Kaedah pengambilan pelajar serupa dengan kaedah pengambilan pelajar bagi MRSM lain, namun begitu terdapat penekanan terhadap beberapa kriteria penting. Berikut ialah syarat kelayakan untuk memasuki salah satu daripada MRSM Bitara:

Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya 8A dalam Penilaian Menengah Rendah.
mendapat markah tertinggi dalam ujian kecenderungan yang diadakan bagi calon-calon MRSM dan kementerian selepas PMR di pusat-pusat tertentu
Aktif dalam bidang ko-kurikulum

Selain itu, terdapat faktor-faktor lain yang menentukan ciri-ciri pengambilan pelajar ke sesebuah MRSM Bitara seperti taraf hidup, penduduk luar bandar dan anak kakitangan MARA.

MRSM Bitara Pengkalan Chepa hanya mengambil pelajar-pelajar baru untuk Tingkatan 4 sahaja pada setiap tahun. Pengambilan pelajar baru biasanya dilakukan pada bulan Februari.

in terms of ranking and quality, i say yes..

kind of, because MRSM have many school in Malaysia unlike MCKK that onle have one institution!

Story 1 (MRSM student in Public U)
Im from SMK, i went to public university, 2 of my coursemate are from one of the mrsm bitara, they couldnt get the pass to get the scholarship to study overseas (anyway studying overseas is too overrated). In university, they can do shit, because they openly admit in mrsm they got so many tongkat, they cant even finish The entire course ontime, have to retake few subjectand paper due to very low CGPA. In the end, normal smk guy like me achieved more than what average mrsm ppl does. Talking bout final year project shit? Mine won NRIC special award by motorola (national level only la)

Story 2 (so called creme of MRSM students whom studied overseas)
I used to work with one big organisation. Pro to employ so called this MRSM WITH overseas educated student coz they are bond to it i guess. Initially i tot, whoooaaa study overseas UK lae, aussie la, USA la. Must have damn good personality and high self esteem due to exposure to other culture. Damn shit most of them cant do nothing. Cant even give proper even worst convincing on presentation, bad on writing business proposal, heck very bad technical skills. No doubt, these ppl might be having higher memorizing power sompare to me, but only theory shit. By the book person and no outside the box thinking. Hard truth, eventho they got the chance to study overseas but 90% of the time they only stick to their same group. Especially malay with malay. They wont mix with others that much. While in Malaysia, me being Malay, i have better exposure mixing with other races, mainly the other major races. Ponteng kelas together, go play footbal (backthen futsal was still very new),main kuda and shit like that.

Story 3 (the average Joe from SMK)
I quit the said organization as i cant change their mentallity, even worst, the bosses there most of them coming from almost the same tongkat group, hence the favorism. I quit as a manager there and now working with a Sdn Bhd company. Totally different way of leadership. Even better the trust level from the CEO. Too add some juice on story 3, i dont even need the tongkat to go study overseas to get the exposure. Im positive, im doing good running a business at international level without the so called exposire

These students usually get scholarships and study overseas the return get absorbed into Malaysian think tanks and Malaysian MNC...

You think PNB hire cipalang Malaysians?

Still remember our u15 team beat MRSM beseri's u18 in rugby... In fact I still remember the score... 48-0 and that was 10-a-side...

I concur your statement. But what lacking in MRSM system is the real exposure to real world instead. They focus too damn much on syllabus, exam ...basically theoritical fact and figures of the books by our education system.

What they are lacking off is far more important in real world. Working environment and corporate world. Majority of these ppl whom being absorb to GLC as think tank of malaysian in the end, ended up only as doers but not leaders. Only few managed to do that. But they are pretty darn good of only doing vendor management.. The real leaders are the enterprise sectors , at least in my industry, and SME's is doing a big leap through lately...

aku dulu kat mrsm takda lah pandai mana pun... tidoq ja dalam kelas... tapi apa yang aku bolh ckap, mrsm ni bukanlah elit mana pun... cuma student yang terpilih masuk mrsm ni memang ada kelebihan masing masing...

betul mana-mana sekolah sama ja aku rasa. kalau dah malas belajar tak boleh nak buat apa. cuma kelebihan dapat rasa budaya baru kat asrama.

kawan aku mrsm pengkalan hulu. tapi last sekali form 3 dia kena buang mrsm, aku masuk sbp form 4. payback, berlagak sangat dia masuk mrsm.

NO WONDER OUR ocuntry is heading INTO SHIT HOLE thanks to ppl like this in the think tanks ROFL!!

well, mrsm bitara does take only 8A's students..but each students have their own motivational level and academic..some are like me, luckily got 8A PMR then absorbed to mrsm, felt like can take anything..but in the end cgpa just above average..only got 3.11 maa on trial mara..lel..but spm rise again..
i have to agree that koQ is not mrsm best interest, but takde la sampai diabaikan..me in PKBM win Malacca competition, then go national..win some gold medals as well..my college, softball win state or national i dun remember..and some other sports win state level..but true2, very few la event with other school..usually among mrsm only..
food, deyy ikan jaket n telur masin are still in our menu until today la deyy..who said we rich..

MCKK > ALL

SBP master race lipoting for duty. SBPs on a whole are better than the MRSMs (except for the elite ones, which are comparable to the best SBPs or better, in the case of TGB). Personally, if I had to do it all over though I would have stayed home and gone to my SMK instead. I don't like rigid schedules and being forced to do things. The only good thing I guess is the culture and activities. There are a lot of fun things (organizing events/competitions/whatever) and if you stand out then you get to compete on other levels since the schools aren't stingy about funding (I was one of the co-leaders and the scriptwriter as well as extra for our English Drama team: we won regionals and went to nationals by beating out other SBPs, Convents and High Schools but we lost to KTK, one of the Sarawak Science Schools, and MCKK). You gain a lot of experience and meet great people but it's not really worth it in my opinion. I have major problems concentrating and boarding school only made it worse by forcing me to study when I wasn't in the mood and filling up my regular study times with useless compulsory activities.

But in the end it doesn't really matter. Once you get into uni, what matters is your own effort. SBP/MRSM students just have an easier time of getting scholarships since sponsors pay special attention to these schools. I know Petronas came to interview a bunch of people and a few students were sponsored by Shell. The Head Prefect got a scholarship from Bank Negara and a significant majority got JPA/MARA scholarships (I think the top 100 all got at least one offer/interview) and even though I wasn't anywhere near the top I got one of those odd programs (2 years Higher National Diploma and then a scholarship to study in the UK) but alas, my parents didn't let me go

Oh yeah, there's always some Chinese and Indian students initially but they almost never stick around. I'm not sure why exactly because I don't think we were racist or anything. Maybe it's the same reason why other students drop out and go back to SMKs: the culture shock. Not a lot of people can handle local boarding schools and not everyone that stays there (like me) do all that well there.

Quite right, sometime it was the Principle and the staff who makes the difference,
some MRSM I see that the counselor and the hep are very active in preparing their student in facing the real world while some MRSM are the counselor are always missing

some MRSM right now other then Bintara they have IGSE syllabus and tahfiz MRSM (ulul albab) where the admission is much more strict!

I lagi respek smk people than sbp & mrsm. Those boarding schoolers sometimes are prone to aww aww / LGBT characterisitics.

2 that cant make it whom are my coursemate. Few other similar stories from other faculty within the same university, and bunch of it during my first work in that GLC.

Am i generalizing? Yes i am, with bunch of such student be it the one that really drop after SPM and those whom went to study overseas. 70% of the toal ex mrsm i met perhaps. And if my guess right a total about 15-20 whom claimed they are from mrsm yet having the same similar situation as per my story 1 and story 2.

So MY consensus 70% from whom ive met is A LOT. Capish ??

I'm just wondering why Malay that studied at overseas, they rarely mixed with the angmoh, etc. My friends that study at oversea, most of them they mix with their Malay friends.

last time i heard sbp + mrsm got different marks scheme for PMR and SPM. lower than sekolah biasa. becoz need to jaga kualiti + reputasi. no?

learn the good stuff not the sluttish stuff..

research and experiment, thesis, followed by possible applications from it..stuff like u do for phd in Uni la..

it's the same i think expecially for the sekolah kluster and mrsm bitara..both our examiner would be more strict in marking our exam paper than regular sbp and regular mrsm..

My brother from mrsm kkb got about 10 non bumi for his batch.

mrsm now now longer much special since they manage to built up up for every state and district i think??countless...not like old time during my stdy..only have bout 7 or 8 mrsm only...limited and only best man win can enter it..but quite surprised since mrsm kuantan now become bitara?? i heard few years back they want to close or upgrade this msrm kuantan to mara collage..

Not really, actually some of them really have a hard time adjusting to boarding school life
while in one case that I've asked why that he quit because he wanted to take bible study in SPM
and wanted to take extra tuition outside then just a regular provided class

People get lower marks in SBPs than they do in regular SMKs. I know some dudes who were failing in SBPs and then dropped out to go back to regular schools and suddenly, straights As again. They get marked to a stricter standard for all the trials but it's the same level as the regular schools for the real exams. Why the hell would you need to "jaga kualiti + reputasi" by lowering the passing marks and scores for the elite schools? These are already some of the best students in the country cooped up in one place. The problem is that they hold you to a higher standard and not everyone can keep up. A lot of kids fell behind since the pace was grueling and the competition is insane. Most people were used to being the best at their respective schools (jaguh kampung lah konon) and then got a massive culture shock. The worst student there would have still been among the top at any SMK and the best are way, way beyond your average hardworking student. You've got people with photographic memories. People whose textbooks/reference books have looked like they've been totaled. People who are actually reading university level textbooks already way before the SPM (the bank negara scholar dude). There's a reason why scholarship offers are extended to SBP/MRSM students based on their trial results even before they even take the SPM.

im also ex mrsm tgb batch 2002... before that im from mrsm muadzam batch 1999... imho mrsm has biasa2 school system but these 6 mrsm bitara has very2 awesome schooling system... better than private school.. try google spm ranking... mrsm tgb always no 1 for many consecutive years.. following by other bitara... sbp is good but never on no 1 position...

Sbp/mrsm marking schemes for spm is strict. Aku spm est dapat B3, tapi kawan aku sekolah kampung dapat A2. Overall spm result aku lagi elok. Lol

Aku percaya dengan culture shock menyebabkan pelajar2 ni kecundang kat uni. Contoh terbaik diri sendiri. Since takde siapa nak suruh2 dah, suka buat kerja last minit. End up result tak bagus mana. Lel.
