If I have an uploaded resume in JobStreet, do I still need to fill in the position and roles using their resume function? Whenever I click 'Apply Now', it prompts me a dialogue asking me to fill in the position and roles but I choose to skip and continue. Also, I know it's recommended but is it okay to leave nothing for the 'Make your pitch!' box?

Edited: When I submit the application, is the uploaded resume already submitted together along?

Better fill up the 'Make Your Pitch' box.

Makes you look like you're taking the job application seriously.

Better fill up your job experience as stated in your resume.

The reason those features are available is to allow head hunter, recruiters and HR to search through shit piles of data and filter the correct candidate for the job. If no data was filled means you have no chance to be found. Even overseas experience is a vital information. Your chances are increase by 2-3 folds by working/graduated overseas.

Agree with everyone above, especially filling up your jobstreet account details, as what you are doing is active searching, while you totally forgo passive searching, that is, to let headhunters and prospective employers to search through jobstreet's database and find you.

But the thing is I have also uploaded my soft copy resume (MS Word) in their system so whenever I submit an application, that resume will be forwarded. So the question is, should I do both or remove my uploaded resume and fill in their resume function?

The Word file you uploaded is just an attachment when you submit an application to a prospective employer or headhunter. But a prospective employer or headhunter cannot "find" you if they are diligent enough in the jobstreet database because you did not fill in your details. Fill in both, they will receive your jobstreet details AND your attachment cv.

Do the update on both. The data that you enter on their website allows them to filter for correct candidates, then they will take your MS Word resume and forward it to the employer or colleague.

I uploaded the MS word and just basically copy and paste what I had in my resume into their database manually. Usually the functions that they are using is the period of employment, type of industry, skills (both software, management and whatever), and maybe project description.

Usually how to increase your chances? When you apply for a job you will realize there is a summary comparison of your skills and the job requirement(posted by the employer/HR/headhunter) that you applied. Using that, you basically alter your skills to meet those requirements on higher priority applications. Try this trick on the lower priority application to see your chances. Remember you cant apply for the same role twice.

1. Open Chrome console by pressing CNTRL+SHIFT+J

2. Paste the following and then press enter

document.getElementsByName("pitch")[0].removeAttribute("onpaste");

3. There will be errors, but ignore it. Now you're able to copy your pitch

and paste it. Press CNTRL+SHIFT+J again to go back to the jobstreet page

4. You have to do this for every pitch (don't copy paste the code, just

use button "up" to insert the same code at the console) but it is better

than to leave it empty tongue.gif

It depends actually whether they person want to pick you or not. Some I wrote something in the "make the pitch" boxes but still not shortlisted for an interview. Anyway, since there's a box for you to write something, just write to make you stand out from others, best of luck in job hunting smile.gif
