I prefer Richards.

He had very good strength, defense and heading rating, and fast enough for me at least.

Overall he is better in terms of strength, defending and heading. His pace is decent but not as quick as Walker. Walker is fast but he lacks the height and strength. Every time then the CPU assign Walker at corners, I will concede. 

Remember to pair him with Kompany, perfect chemistry link   

For Vidic and Kompany, you'll need fast, really fast fullbacks to cover the lack of pace. Vidic is really good in defending, but when you come up against pacey forwards, Vidic is gonna suffer.

If you are looking for affordable CB, 83 rated Koscielny is the way to go 

Im using Koscielny in my second team, very decent player. But make sure you get the upgraded version, 83 rated. For CAM, Rodwell is quite slow. Amongst the affordable ones are Nasri, Carzola, Ozil or even Rooney/Mata .
