sorry guys off topic bit here, any recommended taobao (or cheap from locally) marathon sport shoes? for newbie 1 as well  notworthy.gif
*
*off topic*
how cheap is cheap?
i don't recommend u to get shoes without trying it first.
it may be the right size, but it may not be the right type for your running pattern.

if u're looking for running shoe, these are some of the brands to look for if you are looking at a budget above RM300
asics, new balance, mizuno, brooks and saucony (saucony may be harder to find here)

if it's below RM300 budget, most shoe brands would be more or less the same.

1. Not sure. I have not extensively worked with ABS keycaps, but for PBT keycaps the quality is noticeable. It doesn't shine, and the "thunk" is solid and satisfying. Membrane keycaps have a tendency to degrade, depending on the quality. Most RM20-30 keyboards use printed legends, which will wear off after a while. Only double-shots last almost forever, but I guess dyesub is also quite good.

2. Yes and no. I use red on white doubleshots, and the light is perceptibly dimmer. The glow is there and it really looks cool, but the legends are not clearly defined when the LED is at full power. It used to be possible to see the blue with max illumination even with my lights on, but it isn't when I switched to double-shots.

Also, just got this in the mail:
http://imgur.com/WH5qgyc

Please excuse the horrible office mouse and the fugly keycaps on my office MKB.

Dun headache. remember, MKB is about feels. Bling is unnecessary. That's why I still prefer DS pbt over anything else.
The reds are flat keys. Gonna replace my QWER keys. The rest you guessed right. And now I have a repeat of my spacebar woes.

Why can't I just get decent spacebars in my life, EVER?
Bling is bling bro. Bling can be good, bling can be bad.
*
i guessed right, those are from SP's since i was interested in getting the PBT DSA caps also, hence they looked familiar to me...haha!
what spacebar woes?

Not mad at all haha. Old Command & Conquer games, some Star Wars, and a bit of HoN with friends once in awhile. Though on my PC it's 80% watching anime, 19% doing programming and 1% gaming lol.
*
ok lah, bling is important since there's a need to make friends in awe with your keyboard brows.gif tongue.gif

shine 3's bling is more gaya, but honestly speaking, among the many led lightning feature, most of the time u'll be using full backlit, maybe with breathing mode, or you'll customise which key to lit up.
the rest of the feature are only for "showing off", it's not practical at all, some of it are bad to use when you are entering password doh.gif
also shine 3 is out of stock, dunno when only got restock.
the keycaps is very suitable for led backlit, and quite a nice font, but it'll "shine" over time.
all backlit keycaps are abs, hence it will shine over time (at this point of time, i don't know if there's any pbt backlit keycaps)

f104, it's cheaper, and quality is quite solid.
the first thing you'll notice is the "ugly" keycaps legend.
some can accept it, but most ppl prefer other keycaps legend.
keycaps is only partial backlit friendly but it's durable and it'll take a very very very long time to shine compared to abs keycaps. and it's thick, solid to the touch and presses.
f104 is led friendly, meaning you can put in whatever led colour u like.
it has only basic led lightning modes, full backlit with or without breathing mode, and that is good enough for your every night usage.

whichever keyboard you buy, eventually you will change keycaps also.
just my 2 cents haha

The DSA keycaps are really good. I think it's slightly better than the Vortex doubleshots. The feeling when the keys bottom out is much different and feels more solid. Very good buy.

i'm waiting for the white + beige PBT DSA kit by SP.
otherwise i hope to get the PBT DSA for my ergodox, but hopefully they can give me white alpha and blue mod kit instead of all blue sad.gif

Anyway, i figured out why the SP DSA keycaps aren't working out....

Basically, the switch is soldered upside down compared to other switches, so when you install, the stem catches on the cover due to the asymmetrical  shape of the switch.

Sigh. Will report back after some shaving.

u use the DSA on which keyboard?

Both also similar symptoms.

UPDATE: I mount it on the switch now, and only ONE stabilizer. It seems like it works better on one side than the other (even after switching it around). Is it salvageable?
*
i forgot what keyboard u using lah doh.gif
haha!
but i suppose it's a costar stabilizer.

funny that i believe costar should have less spacebar compatibility issue compared to cherry stabs.
hmm...i'm not sure what else can be done, other than making sure the inserts are really pushed in, the |_| thing are placed properly, lube the contact point, make sure the metal bars are properly seated, and finally making sure the whole spacebar is properly seated.

btw, did u try putting the spacebar flat on the floor and see if it's warped?
something like this.

Cherry stabs. And the keycap is fine sad.gif no warping.
Cherry stabs everyone... bloody cherry stabs. My vortex set no problem... sigh... and I really liked how they looked on my KBT Oni sad.gif
*
ahh, cherry stabs.
and kbt oni doh.gif should've thought so.

kbt oni have some inconsistency with the spacebar stabilizer's distance.
i'm not sure what can be done here...

The next time we have meetup, I'm going to buy you a drink. Although I had to use some surgical tape on the stabilizer in the end (one side didn't wanna listen), you set me on the right direction.

Problem solved.

2nd hand KBT Oni, from justnits. Keycaps are DSA profile from SP.
Took me 15 seconds to get used to it. Bwahaha. The red keys are actually slanted (R1 or R3 IIRC) but I mounted them upside-down so it kinda sits flush.

wait what? apa from me? i don't own any kbt oni before also... sweat.gif

Why do you think I switched to all blank PBTs on my daily driver.

On the other hand, the profile on DSA spacebars are a little short for me. Might switch back to DCS profile spacebarf after all. This one is ABS biggrin.gif
70wpm is hella respectable. Anything above 120 characters per minute is already above the average human being.
*Raises hand shamefully*

I have an MKB addiction.

Now that I have a decent set of DSA keycaps, next step is.... IMSTO?

Not really sure cuz I'm still trying to find the perfect set of keycaps.
*
should i spoil your quest by telling u which is the best? tongue.gif

wow. anyone own that topre? and how does massdrop services? is it okay? i might pull the trigger on this one.
*
if you are getting from massdrop with a purchase of anything over USD$100, u should consider upgrading your shipping to one with tracking and insured.
email them at support@massdrop.com to ask how much is the additional shipping cost to top up for the realforce keyboard.

for example, i purchase the ergodox, the standard shipping is USD$24.90, this shipping is without tracking and not insured.
if i want shipping with tracking and insured, an additional of USD$25 will be charged, thus making the total shipping charge of USD$50 for shipping with tracking and insured.

I dun understand the paranoia...

I'd go for tracking and insurance if I'm buying without paypal, but a merchant paypal account works differently.

If they charge you for shipping and all, unless  there is proof of receipt you can dispute the transaction and 90% of the time you'll get the money back unless they can proof somebody received it.

So....
*
afaik, within 45 days to dispute.
production/sourcing takes longer than that.
i want my package to reach me, not buying something and then didn't get it or taken by some idiot postmen. vmad.gif

also the refund, will it go straight to ur bank or credited into your paypal?
