Hi,

Some of you may know, I am an iFag. However, recently the Google Nexus 5 seems to have caught my attention.

I have some question though.

I have invested in quite a bit of media (music, movies, apps, etc) on iOS and iTunes. I don't really care so much about the apps, but is there a way to sync my music from iTunes to a Google Nexus 5 device?

If music bought from iTunes, it won't play on Android devices due to DRM protection. If music u rip yourself or download from ahem sites, no problem. Android can handle any movie format, be it MP3, AVI, MP4, M4A and on some devices, MKV.

any phone can run any video extension with the correct apps

to me, you should stick with iphone

Firstly, iphone is more expensive. so it must be expensive for a reason right?

Secondly, iphone users gets laid more often than android user.

Thirdly, iphone has the apple logo, which is an american brand and pride. android is a lame robot. and each cent of your RM500 paid for that logo on your phone must be worth something, right?

Getting bored of iOS already.

My first iOS device was iPhone 3G, used it for two years then went with Blackberry for quite a long time. Then got myself the iPhone 5 when it first launched, but honestly I want something different.

Considering between Windows Phone or Android, but I am leaning more towards Android with Google Nexus 5.

So far the only complain I heard is about battery life.

Android devices now can talk to Apple TV using a free app called AllCast. Tested on my Xperia Z Ultra and confirm working with Apple TV for pictures, videos and music. Who needs iOS now?

nexus 5 is a low budget phone. it is a downgrade. the only upper hand you get is the fast update. that's all.

but then, when you're already rooted and such, you cant get OTA update anymore. have to update manually

Not true anymore, it already lost its novelty value since it is too common already.

For me I think I associate iPhone to being gay for so many gay friends use  iPhone.

Why downgrade?

Nexus is nerd / geek series phone who cums each time google releases point update.
Cam is poor, battery life disappointing.

Cheap materials, fugly look.

Even LG don't dare to sell it here. Now, u only get AP set.

Looks, its all down to what sort of experience you prefer.

If you want greater control over what can be done with your phone, go for Android. Just be aware that it has a number of quirks that are not easily resolved unless you're a techie. If you're willing to and know how to root it, you get a load of control over how your phone works.

And no, you don't lose updates by rooting. You just lose OFFICIAL updates but there's always custom roms like CyanogenMod and ParanoidAndroid that work quite well and have extra features to boot. More importantly - minus crapware like Samsung's Touchwiz.

If you want a phone that's easy to use and has a refined ecosystem, go for iPhone. However, I'm pretty sure you're well aware by now of just how restrictive the experience is as well - even when its jail-broken (which locks you out of future updates). Most ordinary phone users will never notice this nor care even so its fine for them.

No doubt, the reason why you are even considering the switch in the first place is because you are already fed up with the restrictions, in which case you shouldn't be listening to all those stupid fanboys asking you to stay. But like I said, do your research and be aware of just what you are getting into either cos you might not like it.

Incidentally, anybody who says Android is laggy is a non-techie. Meh to them.

As for battery, KitKat is lightweight and has incredible standby time. If you're not on KitKat, too bad. If you are but your battery drains quickly, than you're doing something wrong. My phone uses <1% per hour on standby.

iPhone also doesn't support sd card, then what's the point to stick with iPhone?

Plus you should try to use the N5, the battery is not that bad, don't let small battery capacity+android blind your eyes and thinking.

but 64 vs 32 gb,

but main issue is battery drain quickly if u on data
off data = dumb phone, troublesome if 2 on off data every time

Do you really need that much capacity? Let's say you did, there is an extra option to expand N5 storage, with a single usb drive, don't forget N5 support USB OTG.

Every phones with data sure drain battery, it just depends on your usage pattern. Plus there's plenty of free wifi hotspot these days. smile.gif

You got it wrong, N5 doesn't drain lots of battery on wifi, not on my usage pattern, I have wifi on and connected all day, chatting, surfing net, even playing online games, no hassle at all.

If OTG is temporary solution, and why so many manufacturer, included Samsung want to make such feature available? Because they know sd card is not going long, and usb drive are always faster than sd card in every aspect.

Even like you said, OTG was only a temporary solution, but it's better than no solution at all, right?

*
So....99% of the users, who are non-techie, say that Android lags? hmm.gif Thanks for the confirmation bro. thumbup.gif

But seriously though OP, if you're going from iOS to Android, at least pick something higher keras. Nexus is like the steaming pile of dung in terms of hardware and build quality. No expandable SD slot = no go.

Depends on their phone lar mang. Majority of Android users buy ~RM1k low to mid range, of course lag lar. If there's one thing that Android is doing wrong, its that the OS has a fair amount of bloat. This issue can generally be resolved by techies by tweaking the kernel.

Premium smartphones are fine.

KitKat seems to have resolved that somewhat but its not likely to trickle down to the lower end models so they have to hope there is a custom rom built for them. However, from this point forth even the lower end models will have decent performance.

I might be a droidfag and dislike Apple but even I don't simply go around pushing Android phones on other people either. I've already stated my phone buying guide once here and I'll repeat it again.

Richfag? -> Buy iPhone, unless you have some reason for considering Android.
Poorfag? -> Buy Lumia.
Super poorfag - > Buy nokia dumbphone lar bodo. sweat.gif No money still want smartphone. doh.gif

Like I know someone who said iPhone screen too small. Complain eye strain just to read. Played with Note 2 at Samsung store and liked the big screen. Obvious choice there lar.

Its 2014 people ! Stop with the android vs ios fight.

Ive used low-mid end android, iphone and now nexus 5
Use your brain, if you buy rm600 android phone memanglah lag compared to ~2000 iphone .

My nexus 5 is super fast, no lag in between swithing apps and all. The camera delivers its job pretty decently.
Battery-wise , it can last all day from morning till i reach home at night with medium usage which is quite similar to the iphone ive used.

In the end, its all about personal preferences. You really have to try both devices and compare which suits your needs more. Stop being a fanboy and boast about what your device can do/what the others cant. Open up your mind.

Yeah you're right, that why I don't like people keep telling disadvantage of something vs other thing instead of comparing two things to see their advantages and disadvantages.

When you keep telling disadvantage only of something, that's consider an act of misleading/misguide.

If music bought from iTunes, it won't play on Android devices due to DRM protection. If music u rip yourself or download from ahem sites, no problem. Android can handle any movie format, be it MP3, AVI, MP4, M4A and on some devices, MKV.

iTunes can convert the songs bought to MP3.

I have a few songs I bought on iTunes on my Android.

Guys, what about Moto X?

I didn't really think about it before, because honestly I forgot about Motorola's existence.

Is it a good phone?

Haha just use android today and i felt so messed up. While iOS i don't need to think much . it feels like everyting perfect when on iOS. Well I change cus my fingers couldnt adapt with the small screen. Plus I can see that picture quality in iPhone 5 looks better (maybe cos of the small screen) than Samsung S4 which even using 13mgpxl camera.

Better stick at iOS for now. I has been used to Android for 4 years already. It have better features than iOS but stock modified UI like touchwiz makes the phone lags even on high-end devices. You need to debloat the ROM and apply some tweaks with custom kernel. That a lot of work before your phone truly lag-free..

any phone can run any video extension with the correct apps

to me, you should stick with iphone

Firstly, iphone is more expensive. so it must be expensive for a reason right?

Secondly, iphone users gets laid more often than android user.

Thirdly, iphone has the apple logo, which is an american brand and pride. android is a lame robot. and each cent of your RM500 paid for that logo on your phone must be worth something, right?
